Austin Hereford pick-up...Somerset's bigger brother - you can tell by the oval wing vent. Rare - I think most were exported to the colonies.

Sad to see such a useful bit of kit disguarded. BMC entered so many market segments that are still with us today - the beefy medium size pick-up market in this case - but did not really prevail and left it to their competitors to hoover up the market and profits in the end.  I've seen a couple of these close-up - very nice.

2.2 litre 4-cylinder with an 80mph top speed for the saloon - so quite useable even today.

I think the styling works better on the bigger Hereford - the Somerset looks too chubby for its size.

That's Bill Way,who owned the place. He died not many years after, but the yard kept going into the 90s.The whole area has since been redeveloped.

Edit:-Just Googled them, and they are still operating on a different site.

That's proper mingebaggery, reusing an old clutch.

On a more vintage note, is this a rare photograph of a genuine Horsey Horseless? Whatever it is I have utterly failed to identify it; it's Helensburgh seafront and dated as circa 1911.

Made-to-measure radiator-blind, 'suits you Sir'.

The Skoda Octavia had an inbuilt radiator blind; one of the many "extras" included in the already low price.....
