(a 2-door early GL is a very rare car actually, for a few months around 1992 I had a A-reg 1300 Ghia and it was a great little car).

The oul man had a Mk.3 Escort as a courtesy car once, "TPR 263X". He was impressed. So impressed, in fact, that the next car he bought was a Mk.1 Golf.

Depending on steel suppliers, some right rust buckets the Mk1 golf , also pain in the backside when needed parts ,17 different varieties of carbs and crap like that.

I think there may have been at least 2 varieties of mk1 Golf body panels as well, judging by the picture.
