Gosh that Ford Mercury is beautiful. The kind of car carelessly scrapped in the 60's when something went wrong.

When the MOT came in during the early 1960s a lot of old cars were simply dumped at the side of the road as they would have needed too much work to get through the test.

Same when petrol prices went up in the 1970s & big old cars without enough prestige were suddenly practically worthless.

Pretty much unknown in this country but they weren't just a limited run of handbuilt specials, OSI made about 10,000 of them 1965 to '68.

Reminds me of the Sussitas and Carmels built in Israel.

Very reminiscent of Vauxhall HA Viva...

A lot of MK2 Escort in the front end look.  What an unusual car. Clearly Ford could have reskinned the Anglia themselves but opted instead for Escort - shows just how ambitious Ford were in the 60's.

A high performance coupe from the early 70s and some sort of contraption from Chevrolet.

1968.

Look at those oil leak patches. Something you don't see these days so much.

Anyone have a handbook for one of these?  1960s ad.  Wonder if he still has it or still lives there.

The street is still there - reg not on database - JG probably not either. Remember those days when it was really difficult to track down bits?

Now this:

Is that a Camaro? Pretty much the pinnacle of American muscle car styling. Want.

From Motor magazine, April 1939. (Text readable if you zoom in).

Inflation calculator shows £1 in 1939 = about £65 now.
