Fantastic photo. Proof too that Victorian buildings with intact sash look beautiful. Something we've completely lost since.

Those three shops still exist in North Main Street in Cork, unfortunately in a derelict state, with a safety fence around them. The owners want to knock them, but they are protected so it's not a done deal.

That sums up the attitude of so many towards historic buildings. I really don't understand why people don't appreciate them more.

What's the situation with protecting buildings in Ireland? Do you have graded listings as well? To be fair, most of the time listed status tends to mean a building stays derelict for longer prior to demolition rather than flattened before it's burnt to the ground anyway.

Basically similar to Britain. North Main St. is protected as an area too. It's the oldest street in Cork, and dates back 800 years to the time when Cork was a very large wooden stockade surrounded by water, with one street running from North to South. Half became North Main St., and half South Main St.

What a shame the owner(s) of the buildings is a twunt.

The last time I saw this street a few years back, I'm sure it was flooded, and there were two fellas canoeing down it in the late evening....

See previous picture. That's Patrick St. as well. Cork still floods on a fairly regular basis. Although they are finally getting around to serious flood prevention measures.

The ultimate AS hearse.

That looks like Tom's van from Father Ted - the one he used to rob the Post Office

Pearse St., Clonakilty.

What a fantastic picture. Would like to step right into it and go and have a Guinness and sit by the fire in a pub just there.

If it wasn't for Covid 19 you could. The yellow building on the corner is Mick Finn's pub.

Judging by the hat styles and haircuts I'd say it was more likely to be the 20's.
