Probably for chasing miscreants down the new fangled motorways; the Metroplitan Police  did it in far more style with 26 Daimler SP250s -

Half-timbered building to match the Rover's half-timbered interior. Don't these cars look better on thick-wall crossplies and simple hubcaps..

Interesting interpretation of the alphabet in the dealer listings in the add above - perhaps it makes sense in cyrillic? Are they grouped by county? There is at least one omission  - Arncliffes of Hull who were mega dealers.

Talking of Hull note that all the Ladas in both adverts are registered in Hull (KH and RH)* except the UA on the estate which is a Leeds issue. Ladas were brought in through Hull docks and the PDI and distribution was done at Carnaby Industrial Estate near Bridlington by Satra (I think).

* should they be carrying East Yorkshire letters (BT and WF) issued at Beverley as they would, I guess, be registered at Carnaby (Bridlington)?
