Aye, nowt to do with the driver running out of talent. It was the colour of the car at fault 100%.

My mate Paul was always complaining the YouTube deleted it as he used to show people the video all the time. So he can once again laugh at my misfortune.

Indeed - that and a slippy roundabout with dodgy camber (Waterloo, London - the BullRing) 
19 year old me with the leaden right foot had snuff all to to with it. 
Bonnet got shifted over about 6" on the front o/s and a local guy that ran the Citroen Avant garage reset it with a big crowbar, two bottle jacks and a trolley jack for a few of those big, white five pound notes that had Queen Victoria on them

That would likely have been John Gillard. Still doing his thing with Tractions but now in Paddock Wood, Kent.

Indeed - that's the chap. I had 'digs' in The Union Jack Club in  Sandell Street. 
Outside his place there was a line of resident's parking bays that I could (usually) get the car onto if he'd not filled them up with semi-mobile Avants (Lambeth had fairly relaxed parking enforcement back then. Resident's parking was (I think) £14 a year).

Gawping at the work going on in there was great - I'd never seen one of those cars before - totally alien things.
