Cheap and tidy Saab 9000 for sale, Somerset

Not mine, but the bloke I bought my Rover SD1 from is selling this Saab 9000CS 2.3 low pressure turbo out of his fleet as it's now surplus to requirements. I saw this (briefly) on Saturday and it looks pretty darn good for the money.

It's in Lovely Sunny Weston-super-Mare.

Good bits:

- It's a UK car but was shipped to Australia very early on and spent most of its life there, so is very rot-free. Various stickers under the bonnet bear this story out.

- To cope with Aussie levels of sun, the windows have a fairly heavy tint. Normally I hate this look, but actually with the JRG paint I think it works pretty well. (Windscreen is normal). It also comes with a (removable) tailored felt dash cover, so there's no bleaching, cracking or lifting of the dashboard plastic.

-There's a bleb round a stone chip on one rear arch and a rather scabby bit of touch-up on the edge of the roof, but otherwise the paint and body are much better than you'd expect for a 20 year old car.

- Interior is very clean and tidy though the leather is a bit cracked and needs attacking with some hide food - didn't see any tears or anything though.

- It's got tax until the end of June and MOT until November or December (can't remember which).

- 4 new tyres - proper Avon ones, not yer usual Chinese ditchfinders. New battery too.

Bad bit:

- 'Check engine' light has been on since he bought it, although apparently it runs fine and he's been using it daily. I've heard it run and it sounds sweet as. His theory is that a faulf's been fixed and it just needs the code clearing.

- Aircon doesn't work. Everything* else does.

I've forgotten the mileage. I don't think it was intergalactic; certainly doesn't look it.

I think he's looking for about £4-500 for it. I'd happily have given him that and used it as a motorway car, but have no room for it at the moment and anyway am mostly using trains for the next few months.

I'd definitely vouch for his decentness and straightness as a seller, as well as his credentials as a man who likes to look after things. This is the same chap who valeted my Rover 75 for me when I left it in his unit overnight after I collected the SD1.

PM me if you're interested and I'll send you his number.

That looks nice and tidy and a decent buy. Tempted but it just wouldnt get used once the new car shine wore off.

That is well fit. Quite tempted but alas no room either and of course several other broken cars.

...... my Ebay handle only9k says it all  :-P

Sadly, having spent only7k on my Savvy leaves me with all the car I need

Go on, you know you want to. Weston's only a hop, skip and a jump from Fife and you'll still be fresh as a daisy after driving it in the Saabaroo. He'll make you a coffee and show you his 1968 Atlantis blue Rover P6 too, which has a beige velour interior that's worth the trip on its own.

These are actually not a bad bit of kit at all.  The 2.3 LPT is adequately powerful (unlike the 2.0 which I found slightly disappointing) and a bit less thirsty than the full power jobs, and the one I had had an amusingly loud dump valve.  Looks a great buy for under a monkey.

Very nice, were it 400 miles closer etc..... :)

400 in this is not 400 in the usual 'choddery' swapped about the place, shirley?

If it was this side of Newbury, I would be all over that. Annoyingly, I had reason to go past Weston last month and could have taken a look then, but will not be down that way for the foreseeable future

London you say? SKIZZER DELIVERY SERVICE IS AVAILABLE.

(Although probably not for taking it back again if you don't like it.)

Oh God, I knew there'd be difficult technical questions. Manual, I think - can't remember. I'll try and find out for you.

Unfortunately I'm thinking the same about your 240 estate

Ah, sadly we may never know the answer to the manual/auto question because apparently he sold it about 10 minutes ago.

Obviously if the buyer fails to turn up or neglects to bring any money then we'll have another go round. Meanwhile, thanks for watching.
