The Holy Grail - The Elusive car.

Some kind of disgusting hot-rod, powered either by a Volvo B36 or a Wolseley Viper.

I'll also add a Seddon Atkinson Strato with Cummins 14 Litre to my list.

Beast of a wagon. Had a lot of fun with the ex RAF ones at Withams. 14 litre 6x4s with twin splitters. Shame they are so pricey!

My recently bought 190e is the holy grail for many of of us 190-fanboys. A combination of the 2.6 straight six motor and autobox, the factory sportline chassis upgrade, cream leather interior, and one of the very last made, on an L plate. Finished in Bornite, one of the best 190 colours of evah. 190s don't come any better in my book.

My fantasy garage would also include,

Escort mk2 Mexico in Signal green with 7J RS 4 spokes, like the Vanguards model I got recently.

Consul 3000GT in Daytona yellow.

Cortina mk4 2.0 S resprayed peppermint green, again with 7J 4 spokes

Mercedes 208d camper with Sprinter 316 cdi conversion and full running gear

Mk2 Astra 2.0 8v GTE

Mk2 Cavalier SRi 130

Hillman Avenger sunseeker 2 door in orange or GLS in bitter green

Early series 1 Allegro 1750 SS, preferably Colin Corke's lagoon blue example!

Marina TC in black tulip, preferably coupe

MG Montego 2.0i in white

Corsa 1.4 8v SRi in Caribbean blue, with standard steels and trims like the one FathaW201 bought new in 1994. He absolutely loved that little car. Would love it if M830 OVN was still out there.

K10 Micra 1.2 GSX in white, with full orange/brown graphics, including the corner-flash on the bonnet.

I've realised many of my choices are not shite, so I won't be including them here.

The holy grail for me would be to bring a steam engine home from somewhere overseas. Does anybody on here speak Spanish?

I have thought long and hard about this and I reckon the Citroen BX 1.9 diesel estate (formerly of the Dollywobbler Dimension) but without the rust, mechanical maladies and tired interior would fit the bill perfectly.  The fact that you're highly unlikely to get a car with a history like that that doesn't have a host of attendant issues makes it a holy grail motor, if it didn't have the same adventure-history it would just be a difficult car to find and not be holy grail worthy.

My dreams include a Cavalier 4x4 130 SEH 8V with steel wheels, L trim and grey bumpers. (as standard in 1989).

The ONLY modification I'd make is a 6 speed cavalier turbo gearbox.

I also dream of an MX5 with no rust.  I'm working on that.

A C or D reg Rover Sterling, either in Silver leaf or Shantung Gold.

An xr3i mk3 with the tube type decals on the side. If that makes any sense

I could easily be persuaded to travel quite a long way to get a nice Citroen GS or CX

For some reason I am starting to feel the love for a diesel Escort van. Only problem is that I would have to part with my MG Metro so I might have to be love sick for a while.

I would love a 6 wheel drive Renault 5.

'''HA HA HA HA  YEAH RIGHT, WHATEVER''

I can hear you laughing already.

Ford Sierra base with the droopy mirrors an unpainted grille

In 1.3 flavour for me

An early MK1 Fiesta 1.3 Ghia for me and maybe a Sunbeam Ti + another vote for a MK4 2.0S Cortina

I second a Mk1 Fiesta, still wish I'd never sold mine, one owner from new (who was a doctor ;) ) mint all round except tiny bit of bubbling at the front of on one wing, rear seats never sat it. I stupidly sold it for a wreck of rusty Nova, which never look anywhere near as good, and general broke every odd week,

Don't forget a working pedal box.

If I had the money, several random creations would appear - notably a Series 1 Rover P6, shortened into a two door coupe, painted Tobacco with a 5 litre TVR Griffith 500 V8, a T5 'box and American Racing 200S daisy mags. A P5B would also be part of the collection, but left completely standard.

Otherwise:

Unipower GT

Rochdale Olympic

Isuzu 117 (Series 1)

Mazda AZ-1

Opel Diplomat

1963 Ford Galaxie 500

1963 Buick Riviera

1956 Volvo P1900

Peugeot 305 GTI-6

Ford Comete

Citroen GS Break

Toyota Crown for me please. Not the 'custom' (read: estate) but the saloon. I had one as my fourth car back in the 70's and loved it. Even then, it was going rusty....

Is that built on a Range Rover fire tender chassis?

Erm... slight difference in the sizes of those machines!

Fact: Father of explosive-cabbage and me (we're brothers) was the builder of the world's first six wheeled Range Rover. True story.
