My MR2 will be putting in an appearance at the Lakeland Motor Museum,, although of course it's my daily, so can be seen on a regular basis.

Sunday, April 27th!

Gaydon should be good on Sunday. The FBHVC also have people at the Lakeland Motor Museum.

It's worth mentioning that any time of old vehicle activity counts towards Drive It Day.

Classic Car Buyer are also after your photos from the day itself if you want to send them to [email protected] the one we like the most will get printed in the May 7 issue.

EXCITING!

Work mode now off.

There will be some Rover P6 cruisage and inevitable break downage in the Yorkshire Dales, organised* by the Manchester Chapter of the The Rover P6 Club.

P6 owning non-members are welcome to participate. If they make it there.

Dammit I've got a massive essay to do this weekend for university, so it's unlikely I'll be able to do anything. If I don't get a chance to drive anywhere, then I'll get the Somerset out of the lockup and leave it parked on one of the main roads out of Canterbury - somewhere I've seen plenty of old cars before, so at least it's flying the flag.

Classic Car Buyer, a weekly publication which recently advertised a job... for which at least three Shiters applied!

not bothered with magazines in ages when you can get so much for free online

Update:

The Manchester Chapter of the The Rover P6 Club has postponed its DID activity due to most of the participating cars having thrown the toys out of their prams.

Ironically, the Rover of d00m would be ready - until it actually happens, that is.

There's a classic run from Uppingham through the villages down to Stilton (by the A1) on Sunday. I am hoping to steam the engine up and go to a suitably situated pub and watch all the motors go by, then chuff home again.

Fortunately, it seems your view isn't an exclusive one or an increasingly large number of Autoshiters would be signing on...

This'll be the first DID where I'm not driving a 'proper' classic for a goodly long time. A Jaguar X300 is pretty close though, and I'm driving it from Greenwich to Madeira Drive, Brighton along with about 300 other Jaguars. I know there's a 2CV run into London on the same day.

Don't confuse specialist title journos with newspaper hacks.

Specialist journos generally have a love and deep understanding of their subject.

Newspaper hacks write any old shit on subjects they know nothing about.

I'm rather cheesed, but it seems that I'm double booked for Sunday. Though as the weather looks like it could be a really wet afternoon, maybe this is a blessing in disguise.

Hot milk and a microwaveable beanie teddy will sort that.

I'll be winging some unspecified bus type shite to Norwich unfortunately. That reminds me, I must look up train times back home!

Anything happening in the North East regarding Drive It Day?

I can't seem to find anything. But I may just be blind.

Bastard - I have to work Sunday.    DID honour will be upheld however as I commute by Minor.   So, although its a less catchy title, I will be celebrating Drive It and Leave It Outside the Bloody Office All Day.

Posted

The Motoring Heritage Centre is only about an hour from my house. Should I just drive there and see whats going on?

Posted

I'm going to celebrate DID by probably not driving anything at all. But I am going to refit the cylinder head and all the other bits I've cleaned up to my 510sss and make it purr like a kitten. If I get really excited I might make the clutch hydraulics work too. Then I might be able to partake in DID by driving it round the field with no brakes.

Drive it Day.

This might be pretty good.

I'll be there with CCB, If you're taking anything, let me know and YOUR car could be famous.

Anything associated with the wankfaced fuckbrained cuntbubbles of the FBHVC cannot fail to be utter toss.

I will be driving my 30 year old heap today.  That is because it is my car.

I was going to drive a 38 year old Landy up the M40 to collect a ton of old shit at my mum and dad's house in Birmingham and take it to the tip for them before giving my dad a right old drubbing on the chessboard and having a takeaway Madras; but the Landy's windscreen wipers have just gone on the blink, so fuck that.

Instead, I will drive the 30 year old Italoheap (one wiper is working) to Hampshire to collect the MAHOOARSIVE flat screen Council House TV that I bought on eBay yesterday for under a oner after my old one blew up last week.

I'm off on a run  in the 2cv with the traction owners club and CCC to Igtham Mote in Kent. Travelling from Denbies Vineyard along the A25. Have already fixed a French flag (purloined from citroen's 50th celebrations) to the aerial, now about to print a fbhvc plaque.
