After 6 bottles of Tsingtao you are going to be propper wonky.

6 bottles of Tsingtao will also drown out any regrets at selling this beast.

Been on with this this weekend, its going to live with a couple of other Talbots in Benjy's underwater battle station. So, I had to dig it out of its resling place in the back of the garage!!!

Itb was boxed in by this old thing, remember it?

Had to stoke this up and move it through to the other side of the garage. At first it wouldnt start as no pez was getting through, a bit of fiddling with the fuel pump sorted that though and it fired right up!!! Its not been started for a good 4 years or so.

Soon died again though as the needle valve in the carb got stuck causing it to pump shitloads of fuel into the inlet manifold. I had a good old fiddle with that, dropping it on the floor half a dozen times and shitting myself about losing assorted microscopic bits of metal but I got it baxck together in the end and it was fine.

Good car this although it seems to have gained a bit of rust while its been in the garage!!!! I defo want to do something with this so I feel a bit better about letting the Talbot go if it means this thing has a better chance.

Back to the Talbot. Shifting it basically involved blowing the tyres up and shoggling it out of the garage using a trolley jack to dolly it round the sharp corner.  For the tyres, Fatha_Bo11ox was employed to pump up its tyres using his track pump for his bike!!!! Well these old peole need a bit of excercise to keep em moving dont they. Maybe next time I'll bring him a compressor or footpump or maybe even bother getting out of bed before 11am and pumping the flipping tyres up myself.

This side of the Talbot has not been seen for years.

None of the wheels were seized up and it moved quite easily. Starting to go round the corner:

Quite clean on this side eh? It was quite a tidy old thing when i was using it back in the day.

Heres Fatha_Bol buggering on with the trolley jack there.

Here she is in the front of the garage ready for collection. Found a new wing and doorskin for it so they went in the boot as well. The mileage on this thing is 34,000!!!! Genuine as well, it only had 29k on with a fully stamped book when i bought it from Tyne Car Auctions for £40.

Is Benji going to A frame it?

LOL. Definitely not, its been collected on a low loader.

Fantastic news. It looks a really nice car and will be great seeing it up and running and on the road where she/he belongs!

The Alpine is being collected this Thursday and lands with me. Will keep the forum updated on her plans and resurrection to life as a Talbot.

As she's from Wisbech I need to allocate her a suitable name?? Any suggestions, clean and simple.

Posted

I would base any name on her Geordie heritage! Think she's on a Newcastle reg suffix and I got her in North Shields. 'Shazza' perhaps!

How about Spuggy, after a female character in the erstwhile Newcastle-based Children's BBC series, Byker Grove? :)

It would definitely be best to ignore any reference to Wisbech in my experience. Jayne Middlemiss it is then.

Google would suggest there is a Dr Helen Talbot at Newcastle University so maybe 'Dr Helen' would suit it.

My Visa already had the name Meg when I got it but generally I call the cars by their colour (the red one) or their make (the Audi). However in special cases I have called them names such as the Council Estate or Auschwitz if it really suited them.

So YOU came up with "Council Estate" for the famous Volvo?

That name is truly inspired.

Wisbech you say?  How about Merde Astuce?

All,

The beer barge is here and I've had a good look at her. Aside from the obvious need to wash and clean her, she don't appear too bad. Before trying to start her we checked the oil and added some more, checked if she was seized..she wasn't. Put a new battery one and ran a fuel line to the pump....very lazy and tight on turn over. Pulled her round the yard to loosen the engine and ran some jump leads to her and she fired straight away and ran for 10 secs and then died and sounded lazy and tight.....more investigation needed.post-12144-0-77190800-1399654342_thumb.jpgpost-12144-0-36364500-1399654363_thumb.jpgpost-12144-0-74732300-1399654430_thumb.jpgpost-12144-0-29072400-1399654480_thumb.jpgpost-12144-0-96863200-1399654532_thumb.jpgpost-12144-0-80398500-1399654583_thumb.jpgpost-12144-0-34044500-1399654626_thumb.jpgpost-12144-0-28852400-1399654668_thumb.jpg
