None of the above, sorry.

I'll probably be shunned from AS membership forever, but I have a 2000 Ford Fiesta now.*

*It was cheap and has a years test on it.

Surely this is the answer, local, shite, under 30,000 miles and under £400

I didn't like these when my dad had one, everything felt unergonomic and all the plastic and switches felt like they were either too tight or too loose. I reckon they're a future classic with those quirky rear lights, and I'll take back everything I've said in that time saying they were a wonderful car and how I want another one.

Those little three pot Daihatsu engines aren't high revvers, they are actually quite torquey but what they do suffer from is pretty bad oil surge, especially on left handers. They do sludge up too without regular oil changes and suffer a fair bit of excess crankcase vapour. I ran an oil catch tank on mine which collected copious amounts of oil from the crankcase breather.

They smell funny too- seriously.

Is a Mk4.5 really just a smartened up Mk3? I drove an early Mk4 once. Seem to recall the dashboard was made of of the most horrible plastics known to man.

I quite like my fiesta. Mine is a 51 plate 1.6 so quiet nippy and grips very well on the twisties.

I've an '02 1.3 it's not fantastic i'll admit but it does have the feel of a much older car which i like.

Mine gets battered up and down the motorway every day and never lets me down.

Plus mine has pop out rear windows which are gr.17

Fuck. Just needing tracking done actually means £400 for new steering rack.

Posted

If you go to Kirby's don't get the rack from green MK4 P739 LEV...it used to belong to my mother and the rack was leaking for years before the subsequent owner scrapped it.

Wise words Mark, cheers.

Panda what you need* is a Cavalier Mk3 1.4.

PM ME CA$H MONIES SALE NOW ON

Does anyone want to make me a offer for this so I can buy the Cavalier? Apparently after a second opinion, it only needs a seal for one of the pas pipes.

Depending on how much it leaks this stuff works

if it's just weeping.

Well, the chap who sold it to me is fixing it for me.

Apparently the rack was clunking last year, so his nephew had fitted a replacement rack, but had not replaced some of the pipes.

It is actually only leaking from the join on one of the pipes, where a seal has gone.

So hopefully have a fully working car soon that doesn't leave little puddles everywhere it parks!

In other news, my company car should be coming soon, a Seat Ibiza 1.2 TSi. 5dr in black

Like this, but I suspect a base model with steel wheels etc.

Glad the Fester is getting fixed..

Re the Ibiza- watch out for excessive oil consumption on those TSI lumps

Hope your Ibiza isn't as badly Photoshopped as that one...
