scruff Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Rear wiper, must be fairly exotic wackywacerwill, Wilko220, Taff and 4 others 7
NorfolkNWeigh Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Distributor and leads getting soaked points to transverse engine, and old enough to have a distributor, rear wiper means it's not mini/ado16 or allegro. Wiper hitting driver side pillar means probably british. As a newcomer I have no idea if wuvvum has owned a Metro or Maestro so I could be pissing in the wind with my a-series theories.
Squire_Dawson Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I'm with Taff and reckon Soviet. Either that or Vauxhall. But I like the element of secrecy and eventual surprise in this collection thread.
wuvvum Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Nearly home- stopped off in Wroxham to buy a wiper blade after the rear one also made a bid for freedom on the A47. wackywacerwill 1
cort16 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I'm now gonna say it's an early mk3 Cavalier.
trigger Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Bits falling of it?, It must be French. wackywacerwill and Junkman 2
cort16 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Come on Wuvvum give us a hint. No of doors or rough geography?
Junkman Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Wiper hitting driver side pillar means probably british. Or septic. But a rear wiper speaks against that theory.
wuvvum Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Stereo of win. HMC, Alexg, wackywacerwill and 3 others 6
trigger Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Ah, Japanese then, Must be mid 80's? wuvvum 1
Ratdat Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 That looks like a Stanza. Must be a hatchback to have a rear wiper so I'm guessing 5 door hatch Stanza T11.
trigger Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I know what you've bought, you legend! scruff, cms206, skattrd and 5 others 8
wuvvum Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 That looks like a Stanza. Must be a hatchback to have a rear wiper so I'm guessing 5 door hatch Stanza T11. Thought you'd be the one to get it. As you can see it's had a bit of a biff on the snout. Bumper is a bit mangled, grille has been pushed back and offside headlight smashed. Doesn't appear to be any panel damage to speak of though, which is a bonus I suppose. Other than the smack it's not in bad nick. It'd been owned by one family for almost all its life, and came with the original handbook and a shedload of old MOT's, plus a HBOL. Drives well enough, and seems good on fuel so far - got from just inside the North Circ to Wroxham on £15. Ridiculously tall gearing probably helps in that regard. Anyway - anyone got a spare Stanza headlight lying around? There's a chap advertising on eBay that he has some, but he's not responding to my emails. HMC, Bucketeer, michiel and 24 others 27
trigger Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 That front end damage looks a bit different to the ebay photos?!.
wuvvum Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Yes, eBay pics were taken prior to the damage. I did ask the seller that question, as when I mentioned I was driving the car back he told me the headlight was smashed, which it obviously isn't in that pic. Edit: Isn't it amazing how differently digital cameras can deal with colour? Those two pictures show two completely different shades of yellow - neither of which is anything like the colour the car really is.
Ratdat Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Excellent buy. I don't have a headlight but I've a bunch of plastic Datsun/Nissan bumpers in the shed. If you haven't got one sorted, I'll have a look and see if there's a Stanza one.
wuvvum Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Cheers Ratdat. I haven't looked for a bumper yet as the headlight was more of a priority, but I will need one at some point, so if you do get a chance to look that would be good.
Ratdat Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I might not get chance to look until Sunday as i'm going to view some top class automotive chod tomorrow and I'm not venturing out there now as it's pitch dark and pissing it down! Also, I have a factory service manual for a T11 if you want it.
Guest Breadvan72 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Phew, she got off at Walthamstow. They always do. Bobthebeard and Angrydicky 2
Guest Breadvan72 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Extraordinarily epic shite purchasage powers!
EssDeeWon Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Cant remember seeing one of those about for like ever!! The Fotoz taken before damage would of pissed me right off to the point of suddenly realising the price we agreed to pay was also out of date and offered him something like 100 sovs less.
skattrd Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 So what's next for the chopping block now you've got another motor?
RobT Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Brilliant, Stanza wiv stance on those wheels. What number is this Dave, 412th or something?
purplebargeken Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Not seen a Stanza since 1993. Interesting choice of chodweapon sir.
red5 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Got to love a Stanza. Ultimate non-descript loveliness. Shep Shepherd 1
Shep Shepherd Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 To me, the Stanza is the Japanese equivalent of the mark 3 Escort
