With the MOT on the Merc up on Sunday I'm needing a new everyday driver-type motor, pronto.

There's the usual crop of chod on Gumtree & Ebay locally which I may end up having to try and deal with but I'd far rather buy from a trusted shiter if possible, so does anyone on here have, or know of something slightly interesting for under a grand?

My definition of interesting is wide but doesn't really include Diesels I'm afraid, apart from maybe an older non DPF/DMF thing, maybe a  Pug/Cit XUD in the right car.

It's to be a daily driver so nothing too outlandish or rare, I mainly like small Froggy & Italian hatchbacks and big wafty German or Swedish barges but I'm up for crossing 'drop top' or '4x4' boxes off the list too.

 

There are a couple of quite enticing motors way down south (like Panda's 205) but I really don't have the time or inclination to travel 400 miles for a cheap car, but 'oop north' is do-able, Tyneside/Manchester-ish maybe.

Essex from Glasgow is just too far for me, unfortunately.

In 30 years and 50-odd cars, I've bought one from Morpeth in Northumberland and one from Edinburgh. Every other car I've ever bought has been within 10 miles of my house, sometimes walking distance.

The number of people suggesting Jags both here and on Facebook is rather alarming. Maybe it's meant to be.....

From spending a fair bit of time yesterday and seeing nothing I fancied to this evening when a few possibilities have presented themselves, it's amazing the difference a day makes.

 

Still open to suggestions but there are a couple of irons in the fire, so to speak.
