My sister and her boyfriend are moving to Australia in a couple of days, and I've copped for selling their car:
It's an R plate polo 1.0 8v. 81k miles, tax while 30/04/14 and MOT while Feb 24th 2014. 5 gears, no PAS. "blue". Drives fairly well, nothing major mechanical seems dodgy in the few miles I've driven it, but they used to go all over the place in it (including touring europe!). Takes a while to start if it's been stood for a while, but never fails to - it could do with a service, I bet a set of plugs and leads would cheer it right up. It goes in and out of the gears perfectly, stops and steers OK and accelerates about as well as you could expect for a 1.0. Doesn't seem to have any annoying rattles or knocks.

I'm told it was owned from new by my sisters bloke's mam, then she passed it down to him a few years back.

As you can see it's about what you would expect - the back arches are baggy and theres a few blebs on the sills (but they don't seem to poke into holes, and it's never been welded yet)

£375

£300!!!!!!!!

Make an offer and I will pass it on, obv lower than £300 since no fucker wanted it at that. I suspect anything much better than £130 cartakeback will be accepted

Paging mr Shitpeas, Mr Shitpeas to the front desk please.....

Sent from my Nokia 3310 using the force.

I don't think I've ever seen one of these without a wibbly rear valence. This one looks pretty good mind and some tape would see those arches through another test or two.

These are so typical of small cars of that era. Pretty much instantly forgettable, but reliable and dirt cheap to run.

I think these are really nice looking cars, if not the most exciting drive. They feel a lot older than they should but they seem pretty reliable with rust being the main contributer to their demise not engine or component failure from my exerience with friends cars.

I'd Gumtree that, chief. A small, reliable decent little runabout with tax and test ought to be one of the quickest cars to sell at the moment, though obviously the market is still a bit crap due to Christmas.

I don't think I've got the energy for gumtree morons at the moment, after trying to sell thirty quids worth of beer fridge on there it made me realise how polite and intelligent everyone on ebay is!

My sister had one of these for her first car - bought as a £50 dooer - upper.

It ran ok for a while until  the engine went - it was the 1.0 version. Lots of noise and swarf/filings under the cam cover. In the boot, we found paperwork relating to a prison release and what I can only describe as a device used in hook and cane burglaries - no doubt one of the former keepers was somewhat dubious.

I think most people on here would pay the asking price for the one shown - however as we all know the great unwashed would probably want new rear arches fitting for the full asking price.

I would advertise it locally (shop windows etc) before offering it to the mongoloids on tinterweb.

Have any of us successfully sold a car on Gumtree? Its never brought me a single enquiry on anything i've ever listed on there!

Two or three I think. You just have to sort of rule with an iron rod and if people ask stupid questions just ignore them, eventually they get the message.

I sold two cars on scumtree this year. As Cav said, you just need to ignore the morons. Both cars sold exactly a day (through Gumtree) after I'd paid out for an ad on autotrader.

I've just slung a dizzy cap and arm at this along with a coolant temp sensor - it starts and runs flipping lovely now! MINES A PINT.

they are class little cars, them. I bought a tatty white 1400 model on an M plate for £300 and promptly drove 50,000 miles in three years with nothing more than regular oil changes. It was slowly failing around my ears and after only just sliding past the emissions monster for it's last MoT I but it on the bay where a gipsy's daughter with nice bosoms bought it for £250. All in all a very pleasent VW experience.

Some ballbag off RR was coming to look at this yesterday but never turned up! At least he didn't bother to let me know he wasn't coming so I hovered round the fuckin house all day for nothing. THANKS MAN!

I could do with shifting it before insurance runs out and it ends up stuck on the fuggin drive. NEW PRICE 300 CASH DOLLAR. DRIVE AWAY IN STYLES.

PS I would swap it for something old and rusty if it was in any way interesting and at all fixable and you could put it on my drive.

I promise the accelerator pedal is attached on this!

Any hills or psychotic Shrewsbury types I should be aware of?

Right fuckit, not my money - If anyone on here at all wants this car for any price at all then let me know your offer, and if it beats cartakebacks £130 I will pass the info on to the owner who will probably accept seeing as he is in fupping australia, living the vida loca with lou and madge off neighbours and steve irwin and other australian people.

I want to keep it as a backup shed for when the gearbox falls out of my golf soon but I promised to sell it and can't even offer the owner scrap money cos I am poor and I am too proud to ask for it for free.
