I thought some of you might like to see the new toy, on its inaugural outing,

A nice old Fiat  Strada, right?  But didn't they come with round headlights?

Perhaps it isn't a Strada after all?

Does this help?

What's that badge on the Steering wheel?

Yup its the fabled Seat Ronda- the Spanish take on the ol 'Fiat clunker.

One French owner from new, now deceased, my son is giving it a gentle re-commission and loosen up.

I find it suprising how much is actually different -seems they were required to change parts ot avoid litigation from Fiat. A lot doesn't make a great deal of sense.

Hope you find the pic's interesting .

S'cuse the big wheels- we've had to 'modernise' it a little to persuade the youngsters to drive it though snagging. Wasn't going to get touched otherwise!

I once bought one new. It was actually quite a good car. One annoying bit I remember not making sense is, that the boot illumination works with the taillights, and it doesn't even go out when the bootlid is closed, hence when driving by night with a folded down rear seat, you have permanent interior illumination. I installed a contact switch in the bootlid jamb to remedy that.

There were a few other minor daft details I can't remember though. The gear change lever is a beautiful exercise in ugliness.

Wow, that's one hell of a clutch pedal.

Looks like a solid old beast, and I do love those seats.  When I eventually pull my finger out and make my first Leboncoin purchase, I reckon it'll be either one of these or a two-pot LNA.

Its the previous owners missing rubber solution. it can stay there till after its MOT -then I'll change.

Yet to find ANY rust..

I find the Pissed On Neds sticker on the tailgate more jarring than the mahoosive wheels.  I don't think I'd even know what that was if I saw it in the wild, it's actually quite an effective facelift.

Kids. Need I say more?

The immaculate Regatta that I refuse to let them tamper with, hasn't moved in weeks.

Phat wheels, lowered with big stripes & I'd be beating them off with a shitty stick.

Haven't seen one of those for years. Come to think of it, I haven't seen a Strada or Regata for years, either.

I didn't do anything. No idea where they have gone. Sorry chaps

sorry to rain on your parade but try between the indicator and bumper, still a damm good find.

Excellent! Not a fan of the wheels/sticker/debadging etc, but still great. You should bring it, and your son, to the next pub meet...

Looks like a Moskvich Aleko and a Strada had a furtive shuffle in Spain somewhere. Loving your work Nigel.

brian wilson would be wayy cooler in this than little deuce coupe :D

I assume it would be a Honda pun from the title. Never even heard of the Ronda before - is it me or does that front resemble the late model Ambassador?

Posted

Dugong's Aleko observation is much closer to the mark, Ambassador's a bit more vertical.

WOW! kept going back to this thread yesterday but couldnt see the pics, worth the wait! only ever seen one in the flesh once, in southern spain a few years back, sat at the back of a petrol station looking sorry for itself.

That's just excellent. Rather modern looking thing too, baring in mind what it's based on.

Hurrah! This thread has pictures in it again! It's a handsome thing in a familiar but not quite sort of way.

Top shiting!
