We've had snow, but not much, so I'll be making an attempt. In the XM. It is a chance to test those winter tyres after all.

I do wonder at which point we'll outnumber real punters and someone realises we're only there for a laugh.

Ellesmere Port auctions, last Sunday, my kids and I made up about a 5th of the audience. And it seems, about 9/10ths of the buying, and we didn't even have any money. Or even bid.

A bloomin' marvellous day. I shall await the official report from the Scoremaster though. For now, you'll have to do with this exciting* scene from breakfast.

What was it at the end that was doing the impression of a military grade smoke screen discharger?

Great fun. I noticed the Accord was a coupe, but mistakenly thought it was quite nice and likely to fetch more money than that. The car that most tempted me into a flutter was that Rover 75 CDT Tourer auto Connoisseur. Was it £490 it made? Something feeble.

The hammer fell at £525 on the Rover which had 130k miles and was on a 52 plate.

I noticed the Accord Koop but figured it was rare enough, and there were enough young lads in the crowd that it would make strong money. Seemingly they all wanted to bid a '57 307 HDI up to £2000 instead....

Smoke screen was provided by the Doblo with the gangsta lean on the flat tyre. I think there was a smokey MPV a few before it too.

I think had I had an empty lockup looking to find a soulmate for long nights and oilstains, I'd have been winking at that Honda for that price, or maybe the BINI purely for the chance of a massive markup.

Cavette needs to get his arse down here. I've never seen so many Vectras, he'd have been nursing a chubby all day.

Also of note, the worlds largest collection of DECLARED TOTAL LOSS vehicles. I think three out of my six were on v-car which I reckon helps in this game, worked with the otherwise similar Xsaras.

Hey gang, anyone heard of a Fiat Idea? No? Well we had two through the block today, inexplicably. About five hundred each for 2004/2005 models.

None of you bought the 206?

What's wrong with you?

I know, we all fail at life.

Posted

X-Type estate for £775 was also an apparent bargain. I had a quick nosey around it and it looked fine.

Re: The 206 Roland Garros that went for £270

Honnest John reckons that private price average is £950 and trade is £1350 and I'm assuming based on their data layouts that that is based on stats of advertised prices, not made up figures.

Ouch

I don't think 206 RG's are that desirable as they're 1.6 so not so cheap to tax or insure for the youth.

I have a reputation to maintain!

(At least it wasn't a Mercedes this time...)

Well, it's about time we had another. Usual rules apply (i.e. None). When shall we meet folks?

Posted

28th? Can't really do next weekend unless I can get a car straight away. Merc is booked in for fluids leak repairs. I might be able convince "Tinworm" Steve to lend me a car.

Posted

21st it could well be then, thinking about it I might be able to make it albeit a bit late.

If you can get down to Peebo there's a choice of several of my brilliant* cars!

I am deadly serious. If you're insured third party on other cars you could jump in and go.

Could be* the launch of the new vehicle in the Midlands Massiv fleet too. (Might not be though)

Potentially have family things happening that weekend but not sure when or where so might be able to make it for most of the chod-bothering.
