This (not an Explorer, admittedly) currently resides next to the main road in Foxfield in South West Cumbria:

I don't want to be shot for being OMG OFF TOPIC but I've always rather liked the Antars, which are along a similar (ish) vein and were used as tank movers by quite a few armies.

They were made by Thorneycroft trucks from the late 40's.

Didn't the British Army use Antars for a long time?

Apparently the Crane 200 ton capacity double bogie trailer from that video weighs 80 tons on it's own

I posted this in the Truck Shite thread a while back but I guess it would now fit in here ok.

I worked for Blundells and they used this picture on the company calendar, circa 1964/65,i never got to drive either of them as I worked in the parts department, plus I didn't have an HGV licence then.

Ah yes, the gate change 'box. Designed in the early 1930s by Oliver North IIRC and used on the Highwayman into the 1960s.

Apparently if you ever managed to master it, removing the metal gate pattern made it easier to use.

Big if though.

Not my picture but might be at the event I saw it a few years ago, BA Stores Vintage Working Werkend.

It's full of old tractors ploughing, stationary engines and old commercial vehicles.

This thread has a disappointing lack of filthy wheelnut close-ups.

Sinking into the sand at Malo les Bains (Dunkirk). It may still be there. Take a shovel...

Personally I have a soft spot for the Atkinson 6x6 with the Gardener 150 - very few were made and most that were ended up as gritting wagons or ballast tractors

Those Atkis are an odd looking combination, particularly compared to the Pickfords Super Constructor which has to be one of the best looking heavy tractors ever made. Bloody good as well.

This weekend there will probably be a few Scammells out to play in Ackworth, esp as it is the local event for Dave Gee, a well known haulier from Wakefield who is a big Scammell apologist
