I've been needing another V8 in my life for a while so when I saw this one with gas for sale locally I couldn't help myself :-)

The idea is just to have a bit of winter fun and maybe sell it for a profit during the impending OMGSNOKAOS.

That is quite possible but if the prices go silly like they have done the past couple of years I'd be daft not to take the money and use it to buy something REALLY silly

Selling for £loads would be tempting, but I drove mine out to the Austrian Alps last January and it'll be going back again this year... not sure the Calibra would handle the ACHMEINGOTTSCHNEEKAOS (which doesn't exist out there of course, I saw someone cycling to work on a granny bike during a blizzard in Innsbruck last year).

Nice. We're twins!!!

Any piccies of your motor?

Lovely! I read recently that the earlier ones are now making silly money

I have noticed the prices going up quite a lot in the last few years aswell, which I was I really had to buy this one, (it was bloody cheap).

Those Rangies with the medicine cabinet door style petrol flap seem to be the best, in terms of least rustiness and modern comforts.

Mine.  I have council spec with cloth seats, which are actually more comfy that leather.

Bugger, with this and my mate posting on ebay about tweed jackets I want another Rangey.

Splendid vehicles - they really are. They leak in all the right places and burn fuel like a power station

I had an '85 V8 until a few years ago which was awesome and I had a diesel Disco at the same time, this was when lpg was 35ppl so it was cheaper for me to run the V8. It averaged 15 mpg and about 19 on a run. We do so few miles now mpg doesn't really bother me any more.

I get about 16 with 19 on a good run. I have lpg, but I don't use it all the time.

I've got cloth seats too which is a bit confusing as I thought all Vogues had leather.

Yes! Great buy, Sir!

Had this been earlier in the week, I would have been tutting disapprovingly and telling you that you'd made a huge mistake, but having fixed mine this weekend and got her running like a dream again, I am feeling the Rangie love once again (until the next time she starts protesting, at least). Now bring on the OMGSNOKAOS so we can get out there and feel smug as we cruise past all the RWD-ers flailing around and getting nowhere.

Mine is just called a Vogue Efi. Leccy windows n mirrors, sunroof.....that's it.  Easy to clean and as I said, the seats are some of the best my butt has ever graced.

Mine dissnae have the colour matched trim or wheels either. Looks better without that stuff imho.

The colour coded body trim - bumpers and such that came later and on the big posho ones.

Aegean wasn't a common colour so I always made a point of photographing any others that I saw.

I never saw another one I could have photographed.

Body coloured bumpers weren't standard. They were part of the TWR Brooklands body kit that was on a special edition called Brooklands then became an option for the last few years. Around 1993, I think without checking.

Those bumpers are bloody awful IMHO.

I too love Rangies. Had a Plymouth blue £500 1989 V8 Vogue SE and my current 1995 Vogue with a factory fit Tdi.

2 years later and I find myself in a similar situation of having winter peeking it's head around the corner and I've bought another V8 lpg'ed RRC.

it's a 1990 Vogue, boggo standard, no leather, no a/c and it's a Manuel! I worked out a deal with the chap that owned it for some money and the ex Wuvvum Jeep Grand Cherokee. I think I got the better end of the deal because he had to shift it quick or faced divorce as his wife hated it. Personally I'd have chosen the Rangie.

Not sure I like it being manual but that's probably because I've got used to autos in recent times. We'll see how I get on with it and if I don't I'll probably swap it for an auto.
