11-plate TATA shite

What with the "not an XV" Impreza the other day, it appears to be my week for spotting oddball modern shite.

This probably won't be "new news" to any forum members who live in or near Cov / Warks area, but I thought "what's that?" as I caught up with this (in my D-reg Cavalier) on the M40 near Warwick Services today...

It's a Tata Indica, and judging by the sticker in the rear window, it's electric, too:

I'm guessing it's a development car as, IIRC, TATA have an R&D site in Warwick...

Shirley as its an 11 plate its pretty old though? No idea how this shizzle works like.

Remember you can have private new style registrations. Could be old-plated to throw people off.

There's a few of them about actually. They are indeed development cars undergoing testing. I think I saw one featured in Auto Car a few years back.

It could just be a test mule for a Jag alternator or something.

(I choose to believe it's that rather than the forthcoming launch of yet another forgettable supermini.)

most likely a test runner. will tata come to the uk? i heard a couple of years ago they were tinking of bringing the nano over here.

It looks sleek and modern, you lot will be having wet dreams about these in 10 years time.

Hey, they own the Rover brand now. Maybe they're planning a Rover relaunch with everyone's FAVOURITE Rover - the CityRover!

CityRover - it's BACK and this time it's got a CREASE down the side.

But if this was the case, why would they have put a large yellow 'dangerous voltage' sticker on it plus an EV badge ?

I think it's probably one of the CABLED trial cars.

I thought they weren't allowed to sell them here until they could pass an NCAP test?

Probably an R&D car as you say.

Posted

At least if they do sell them here it will mean shittyrover owners can get a supply of parts for theirs.

Posted

Are they really related to the ShittyRover?

I think people who bought one of them new probably made the worst car buying decision in history.

Posted

Yeah, ShittyRover was little more than a re-badged Tata Indica.

At the time of its launch, it would have probably sold better with Tata badges...

Posted

Yeah, I was getting it confused with the Tata Nano for some reason!

All they changed were the bumpers and grille, every single panel is identical.
