vulgalour Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 This needs to go really quickly due to my brother making an impulse purchase and having no storage for the old thing, which is a bit of a shame as it has been a pretty great car. Good things:> MoT until end of August 2013> Tax (at buyers expense) until end of January 2014> Pair of brand new sills included in sale> Pair of brand new rear arch repair panels included in sale> Honda engine so no OMGHGF risk> Four very good part worn tyres recently fitted> Not seriously faded paint> Engine runs smooth and gearbox is without flaw> Very tidy interior with minimal wear> Special SLi bumpers and difficult to find boot spoiler> Towbar and electrics fitted and working Bad points:> Radiator union weeping> Driveshafts and CV joints need replacing soon> No radio> Rot on trailing edge of sill and lower leading edge of rear arches (see panels in Good things)> Rear trailing arm bush passenger side needs replacing soon Unfortunately if the car doesn't sell within the next FEW DAYS it will have to be bridged due to the lack of storage which is really, really not good. Location: just off J30 of the M1 please send me a message for more precise address.
eddyramrod Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I'm seriously trying to think of a reason I shouldn't buy this.....
Wilko220 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 There is no possible reason Eddy. And you know that. eddyramrod, Junkman and loserone 3
Shep Shepherd Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I'd snap it up as a project car (I'm feeling nostalgic for the days of my 1994 214Si), but I'm too busy at work, etc. to find the time to collect it
KruJoe Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I'll be sorry to see this binned off, but if it does go that way, save me the repair panels and back lights please (4 8mm nuts).Sadly I'm in no position to save it. edit... go Eddy! I love my 216 daily.
Guest Tony Hayers Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 If nobody else is in the queue before me then add my name onto the list. Father Jetronic would rock in this until his 75 is back in action
eddyramrod Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I think for the sake of neighbourly (and marital) relations I'd better step aside. I do already have two cars, in a tiny terraced street... not to mention what Mrs R would say about it! Sorry... at least that leaves the way clear for Jetronic. Grab it!!!!
Rover414 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Love these things, I'd have this in a heartbeat if I had the appropriate funds and means to get it over this side. Looks ace.
Lord Sterling Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I want this car, but I'm abroad and money is dwindling. Argh!
vulgalour Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 If you need any persuading at all, it actually drives lovely. It's the only auto I've ever driven that I get on with, it feels to change gear when you want it to and it's no slouch. Very, very comfortable and were my situation different I'd be buying this myself but I've already maxed out my storage and funds with the Princess and the Golf. Also, I hated using the 'going to be bridged' line, but that would be its fate. We could save some of the useful bits like the lights and wheel trims, but it's too good a car overall to sack off. I suspect my brother will really regret parting with this car, it's certainly been with him longer than usual... you can blame the Germans for the current fate of this little British underdog because that's what my brother has bought to replace it. I believe the car comes with some service history too and possibly the original bill of sale, it was all a bit rushed and last minute when he turned up with the new purchase and I urged him to advertise it before binning it. For now, it's loitering in everyone's way here but sadly it's a situation that can't last as he can't keep two cars insured and the drive here is full. It'd be fair to say this is the first car to have performed flawlessly for my brother and to ask for nothing while he's racked up the miles, lugging family and whatnot about. Okay, I'll stop being my avatar now, serious enquiries please do drop me a line to offer a stay of execution on this FINE machine. A deposit could secure it for you and may grant a few extra days if we can twist the neighbour's arm about driveway space, but it would only be an extra couple of days.
purplebargeken Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 For God's sake, someone buy it. It would be criminal to see it bridged, even if bits were used to save others.
Sigmund Fraud Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 That is really bargainous !!! Should be a very refined way to travel with the D16 and autobox, really hope that someone on here can save it.
Lord Sterling Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Oh, yeah, we have start again... Yeah, I'll buy it, but I need somwhere to store and I am abroad at the moment....... (Over to you KruJoe and Wat)
chaseracer Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 If I hadn't just bought a Mercedes & Domestic Management wasn't threatening to put my plums in a blender, etc... Next!
skattrd Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I thought this had sold? I'm pretty sure it's over at Chez-Krujoe now .... Theres a bit of japery going on after the last 2 weeks worth of posts got vanished.
KruJoe Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Yep. To me.Last night we lost two weeks of posts debating its fate (perhaps rightly so!)Update brewing... Edit - fill yer boots:http://autoshite.comml/topic/13248-r8-loveliness/?p=448106
