Is everybody going up on Friday night or Saturday?

I was planning on heading up Saturday morning, but I could possibly head over Friday after work if most people are going to be there Friday evening.

I R GOING MENTAL

I'm quite do-lally with this, on top of my 14 hour working days this week and my 216 failing to proceed today. Twice. And twice towed home at speed. And having to take a modern over Malham Moor this afternoon. That was the worst!

I probably CBA fixing the R8 before Friday but we'll bring it down with the red auto at the side of it to rob bits off.
Fill yer boots.

IMPORTANT STUFF:

Chris, looks like 50/50 Fri night / Sat am for people's arrivals. Come as soon as you like!

Everyone please bring a cup and spoon for your brew.
I will provide washing up facilities - all sorted
Raid your re-cycle bins for small screw-top pop bottles (Panda-Pops ideally) to employ as ice-packs - well done GDH for that idea. Or ice packs. I will freeze at home and bring down.

Thanks DiscoWobbler for the sounds, was gonna ask about that.
Any tunes are cool so long as it's not opera or screamo.

Does anyone have a (folding?) car dolly - have a slight mission for it on Fri evening / Sat am...

I'm off out now to stitch another patch on the RAV, and put the door back on.
Oops - forgot to eat dinner, bet it's in the cat by now.

Can you tell what it is yet?!

The Mighty Disco Machine only plays CDs - none of your new fangled electronic MP3 things. Bring yer music! Sadly it also doesn't play cassettes or I'd dig out my Thompson Twins.

Check out Joe using the bold function!!

May I also add, I recommend everybody brings at least a couple extra gallons of fuel in cans. Ive had a look at the planned route and it is very long and what with the amount we will be in low box its going to be a guzzler.

Just to be safe.

Its a long way to anywhere from here.

Rav is back on four wheels, the biggest grot-holes looking rather less obvious now.

Thanks Joe, for republishing the programme of events.  Most helpful!  Couple of questions, that might possibly sway my attendance-or-not....

1: is Benno coming?  I have something for him...

2: is Vulgalour coming?  See above...

3: are dogs allowed?  I was thinking of bringing my little guard dog.

4: are any wives/girlfriends/etc coming?  This particularly affects MrsR who doesn't want to be a car-show-widow sitting around on her own while I ogle the sea of Ladas.

She has actually said I can go on my own if I want, but I'd rather bring her with me, as long as she isn't going to be lonely and left-out.  It'll only be a day-trip anyway.

Ta Eddy.

1. Benno - no not seen much of him lately. Edd (SambaS) is, and may see Ben sooner than the rest of us.

2. Yes for a shortened time, see last page or two.

3. Yep.

4. Not many lasses, but they are allowed! Mine will be glaring down from the hill-top. JohnF may have a couple in his entourage.

5. Eddy, do come, it would be great to see you again. Would it be Sunday morning?

Hey

Hey

Don't try to re-write history! Those of us with some memory cells left know what you're really doing! You sick, sick man.

True, but my sadboy geeking and Fizzy delivering activities were also shed dependent, so I am stuck at home.

How can you be stuck? You've got at least half a dozen other cars / bikes....

(and don't forget this whole event was your idea in the first place...)

This thread is helping me battle through an unbelievable shit week of work, roll on tomorrow night.

In shitefest news -

Communal tea, coffee and sugar purchased, have spent about £18, so going to suggest donations IRO 30p per cup towards it. Please bring your own drinking vessel as previously mentioned. I'll buy a quantity of milk tomorrow night and have a gas powered coolbox to keep it fresh.

I just want to say that I love you all and if I had a sister I would invite every one of you round to  my house to shag her, but, sadly, I can't.

1: shame, and I doubt Edd will want to carry these, they're a bit big...

2: shame.  I may have to pm for a postal address.  Not a big thing this time!

3: oh good.  She wouldn't be off the lead at any point.

4: I don't think the womenfolk understand us.....

5: thank you for those kind words!  And yes, if we/I come at all, it'll be Sunday, in the form of a daytrip.  I have exactly no camping gear these days, having decided I was getting too old for that game at the age of 34.  30ft caravan is a minumu requirement these days, and then only if there is no hotel or B&B available.  Yes, I'm getting soft.  Wanna make something of it?  Blancmange, maybe?

Right folks!

One more thing to add to your shipping lists - your own booze. Considering that pints of bitter in Malham are a shocking £3+ it looks like we aren't going to be able to afford to drink there all night. A few pints around dinner is likely but we won't be filling their tills all night.

Cooling facilities supplied- but probably limited.
If any of you have any steel supermarket shopping baskets, bring them along too. We'll fill them with beers and lower them into a barrel of chilled water*

Bingo al fresco!

Will and I will start moving a few bits down to Malham tomorrow (Thurs). I'll mark out the areas the farmer has asked me to avoid. Time is limited for both of us so we won't get much done, just make a mark.

Friday arrivals:

John, Zippy & Co will likely be on the field about lunchtime.

I have another rather busy day (breakfast for 30, clean their accommodation, then three big holiday cottages to change-over) Will is helping me, so we should be on the scene by 3pm-ish. Exhausted.

Come as soon as you like folks, make yourselves comfortable. It's gonna be well brill.

Wish I could be there.  Sadly there's no way the Range Rover is going to make a 500-mile round trip in its current state.  Plus I'm now going to Italy on Monday so need to get some kip over the weekend.

Coming from the A1 from the south, there's a Morrison's in Wetherby and one in Harrogate, also in Hairyguts there are a Sainsbury's, a Waitrose and an Asda.  Coming from the A1 north, there's a Morrison's at Boroughbridge that also stocks LPG if you need it, and a Booths in Ripon (Booths beer aisle has to be seen to be believed, the one in Ilkley have regulars coming up from London to re-stock with local rarities).

I am considering trying to make a form of hydrolastic fluid out of limeade and vodka...

I might be a bit later than lunchtime, need to collect kit on Friday and it depends when I can get hold of it. But I'll be there before 5pm, deffo*.

Sorry John, I was going from memory, I'm sure Zip said(emailed) he'll be here about lunchtime.

NEED...MORE...SLEEP...

Posted

Yep Lunchtime(ish) had the conversation with John the other day as to where to advise people to park up.

Posted

Doubt I'll be there before 6pm but you never know! Depends very much on traffic. I shall bring precisely no booze and shall drink precisely no booze.

Apparently, the night time temperature may drop as low as 2 degrees over the weekend, so make sure you pack warm stuff folks! People got caught out at the CCC meet in Stratford the other weekend, where it was perishing (I was thankfully plenty warm enough in my tent due to the combination of duvet and cloak...)

Any one coming from the North via M6 / A65, there is a Booths in Kirkby Lonsdale and another in Settle. There is also an expensive Co-Op in settle attached to a filling station, but can't remember if it sells alcohol though.

Fuel is available at a few points along the A65, but not particulary cheaply

Sorry chaps can't make it to this for one reason or another, hopefully I will be at Crich if anyone is going this year, went to Foxfield last weekend with Cyanide Steve and apart from a leaky radiator in the Caro truck which was fixed with some radweld was a jolly day out.

It does, at co-op prices so not too expensive.

Also a co-op in the centre of Gargrave, on the main street, can't miss it. Again, co-op prices.

There is also a small Spar?* in the centre of Settle, on the corner of the market place by the main road, opposite Ye Olde Naked Man Cafe, which sells beer etc.

Written out my marching orders for the shite-moving marathon today...

WP_001014.jpg?psid=1

This means going to Malham and back 12 times, and that's without even moving Joe's stuff or Helga...

Its going to be a long day!
