Yep, we'll do it.

The first big batch of emails have just gone out, awaiting replies for numbers etc now.

On a different subject - do any of you have some blue ice packs (freezer block things)?

If so, please bring them with you, I'll label them with your name so you get them back. We have VERY limited cooling facilities on the field, but I have a spare (mains) freezer at home, I can chill the bollox off them, then bring 'em down to the field, and chuck 'em in a box with the tinnies for our evening refreshments. Cool eh?

There's always the option of "autoshite ice packs" - Empty plastic bottles (coke, milk, cider etc) filled with water, throw them in the freezer and freeze the bollocks off them

I have been trying to arrange some time, in order to come along. I'd love to meet you lot.

But sadly it won't be happening this time. I wish you all the best for a great weekend, and look forwards to having a vicarious shitefest experience when the pics go up in the aftermath.

I'll try and remember to bring my 12v coolbox. If I remember the jump pack as well, that'll do a good job of keeping things cool. GDH's solution sounds good too - all those things are is a container with water in it. Don't overfill though as ice expands...

You were already out of the pool anyway, with some excuse about playing with Power Rangers or something. Despite the whole event being your idea, initially.

There are a heap of us porridge wogs coming down from the north and D. Wobbler Esq. is coming from Wales. Put a bit of effort in to show Malham that they never want us back!

I think Philibusmo is coming from deepest Somerset, so it could be a toss up for furthest travelled. Joe & Will obviously get least distance travelled.

All replied on the email front. This event sounds like it's in danger of being organised! Is it Friday yet?

Our thread has gone, in the meantime, we'll use this one for planning, discussion etc...

I wish I'd saved on the computer the programme I typed out... as though I have too much time on my hand this week. FFS.

Original thread was here:

Anyway, it's still happening. Watch this space. If I've pm'd or emailed you, please reply forthwith, if you have, thank you!

Those links aren't working for me.  I'm trying, as I type this, to convince MrsR that she wants a day out across the Pennines this Sunday.  Would be nice to give SlightlyChevy a decent run!  If she doesn't go for it, well, have a great weekend chaps!

I should still have the email you sent me with the outline itinery on it if that helps - i'll have a look in the morning

I'll be there in the Gen 3 Prelude. Triumph won't be on the road in time and I think the Honda would be more appreciated anyway.

Posted

I'll be in some sort of wet, kiddie friendly bungalow park with my girlfriend and my parents (in our late thirties and early seventies, no kids involved), thinking of you peoples. Have fun!

Posted

Not Duinrell, perchance?  We were there in April!

Hey Zippy, well remembered!

Your reply will still be in my Hotmail, I'll dig it out, re-tweak it and add it to the first post above.

How did I not think of that, I'm fraying around the edges already, and it's only Monday! It is Monday, right?

To reply to John's post...

1. Directions to Malham

Google 'Malham', click maps, click directions

2. Local facilities

Malham has:

Extremely clean National Trust public toilets (one field away)

pubs x2

cafes

gift shops

YHA

brilliant walking/mtbiking and scenery

Malham has not:

Chavs and scumbags

Fuel station

Cash machine

General store or supermarket

Owt else not mentioned above.

3. Eating & drinking

Meals will be along the lines outlined above, not catered on the field. Brews will be available while we're there, if you want to be nice, please bring cake (pre-portioned) or snacks to share!

4. Off-roading

Saturday, most of the afternoon, being sorted by Zippy.

Those without 4x4s can either ride along in empty seats on offroad day, laze about on the field, do target sports, go for a walk / bike ride, whatevz.

5. Target sports

Archery, crossbows, air rifles and throwing axes will be on site & available for informal use all weekend, whenever instructors / supervisors are present. Sensibly. If rather unadventurously, kit will be packed away each evening before serious beers happen. The target sports gubbins is provided free of charge but we’ll have a collection jar for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (http://www.yorkshireairambulance.org.uk/) so feel free to donate. All good fun 'til someone loses an eye, please heed precautions. Lost eyes can be reclaimed from Reception at the end of each day.

6. What you need to bring

Mug and spoon and method of cleaning (we don't want loads of paper cups etc to get rid of)

Any other beverage receptacle you might want

loose coins for propane/milk donations

BYO drinks for the evening/s

BYO biscuits / cake / snacks

Camping gear

Car gear

Stuff to sell / swap / share

COSTS

£5 per car suggested donation for the weekend on the field

£2 donation for the fragrant who wish to shower (to cover heating water and cleaning)

£10(?) Fri pub dinner

£5 x 2 FULL breakfast

£4 Sat lunch

£7(?) Sun lunch

£5-15 Sat dinner (fish+chips/chineseTA/Indian rest.)

£5 donation (suggested) for target sports if you decide to have a go

Loose change for butane / milk donations

So that's about £60 if you're here the full time from Friday pm to Sun pm. Plus your pez/beer/snackage.

It sounds a lot but that's a whole lot of fun for the price of a B+B room.

NOTES

If you're off-roading please tank up in Keighley or wherever as you approach the area. There's very little fuel for sale around here, even less if you want it cheap.

I'll provide a wheelie bin for recycling of cans, glass and plastic bottles, and a bin for other waste. We can dispose of a reasonable amount in a local dumpster in the village. There's no reason we'd create much rubbish anyway.

I'll sort out ashtrays for the smokers - I don't want to hand back the field to Mr.P's sheep with dog-ends etc in the grass. It goes without saying 'don't litter'.

Also, let's not tear up the turf more than necessary. There's some soft ground at the bottom of the field we'll stay away from.

Water for drinking, hand/cup washing will be available but has to be carried over from the National Trust toilets, so use sparingly. Or you’ll have to fetch the next batch.

I will provide hand washing point,  tea towels etc.

Let's play nice and have fun!

Ey, don't overdo it, John was supposed to be sorting out all the catering etc, now look at muggins here...

ban glass from field........

Considering the crustiness of some of the cars turning up (Ravinda) it is unlikely you will find any hard surfaces to break glasses on...

Hehe! Although in fairness, much of the catering has now become part of 'anything to do with Malham'... ;-)
