cort16 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Are any Scottish shiters going up to the Morris Leslie classic car Auctions in Perth tomorrow? I've got some £££ burning a hole in my pocket and this looks like a decent place to spend it on something that will make me lose it all. 20,000 miles Volvo 740 http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/StockDetail.aspx?lot=613®no=C463RSG&sale=1548 LHD TR7.http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/StockDetail.aspx?lot=533®no=OSC53T&sale=1548 Decent looking 2.8 Craprihttp://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/StockDetail.aspx?lot=557®no=A700RHD&sale=1548 A manual MkII Granada that used to be owned by that car auctions I can't remember the name of in Glasgow that just went bust (I deal in facts). http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/StockDetail.aspx?lot=567®no=A141TFB&sale=1548 I would. Happily.http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/StockDetail.aspx?lot=587®no=RAB98Y&sale=1548 Banger Kenny and Shep Shepherd 2
aldo135 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Like the MK2 Granny! Won't make it up though got too much on tomorrow. Good luck mate, this place will go into overdrive if you buy that 740...
Shep Shepherd Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 That 740 GL is identical in every way to the one my late uncle Ted (who is directly responsible for my love of Volvos) bought brand new in 1985
Jim Bell Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Would, in the woods, with mahogany grade wood:http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/StockDetail.aspx?lot=509®no=C53FMC&sale=1548
cort16 Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 ^^ "EASY RESTORATION PROJECT" It does look quite nice though. I've never heard of this fireball engine malarkey before though. I presumed this is just what happens if it over fuels?
cms206 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 My missus has just commented on how nice that 740 is. As has my private parts. She is nightshift tonight so I could, in theory, take a run up... No. Must refrain... Must refrain...

Sigmund Fraud Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 That Volvo is proper mint ! [ebay timewaster] It's a shame it's the povo version with the awful Pierburg carb, otherwise I would have offered £43684306945 for it [/ebay timewaster]
autofive Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 oh yeah http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/StockDetail.aspx?lot=550®no=HCD429N&sale=1548 http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/StockDetail.aspx?lot=650®no=BYF330&sale=1548
Barry Cade Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 That Volvo's been sitting outside AD tyres in Kirkcaldy for months, caught my eye every time I passed.
TagoraSX Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 That 635 looks damn hot, but of course I don't see it until the night before the fuggin auction
CortinaDave Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 I saw the volvo at AD tyres when I was in through the week! its an absolute minter - mileage was at 19,000 odd. I went to the Morris Leslie auction last time but getting charged a tenner just to go in put me off going back ! I'm a Fifer after all. Barry Cade and CreepingJesus 2
dome Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Good job I'm a) working and b ) haven't got the space or I'd be up there today dribbling uncontrollably and bringing something big and ruinous home

CreepingJesus Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 I hope I'm not the only one who's thinking that they'd shift the cars through the auction hall for nothing, just to get a quick go! There's a few I'd have a fight for the keys of...
cort16 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 So far it's been expensive and there's a lot of wobbed up stuff that looks good on the catalogue. That 635 has panels self tapered in to the rear wheel arches!

cort16 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 That was nice, a few decent dings on it here and there byt 42k miles £7200 + 5% commission
cort16 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 That 635 just sold for 2700. Good luck new owner I hope you like migging.
cort16 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 Autoshite rolling news 6000 miles mk2 fiesta 1.1l just sold for £4200
cort16 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 The Merc was rough. The worst was around the rear arches, doors and valence. The front wings looked okay though. The 740 sold for £1750 reserve not met. I recon I would have paid £1300 maybe a little more. It was nice but not spotless. There was a bleb on the door that had been rubbed back and touched in and some bits on the door edges. There was also little rust spiders at the very tops of the doors. It was very honest though. There was a mk2 Jag that sold for £8500 from an internet bidder that was massively wobbed up along the doors, had rust breaking out ALL over it, the rear arch panel looks like it had came away from the car and there was a huge cracked bit of filler hanging off the rear valence. That's going to be a nice surprise when they pick it up as it looked bloody brilliant in the pictures

I reckon they may not even have the 'not as described' card to play, as proper auction sales can be exempt from the sale of goods act regulations !
cort16 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 It was grim. Note to self though the next time I lumber myself with some wobbed up heap of shit that takes a good polish and I can coax through an MOT I'm sticking it through that auction. CreepingJesus 1
