Rotting away...

.....near my folks house in Bournemouth. Taking the dog out for his morning walk I stroll past this rusting red car rotting away in a run down house nearby with an old giffer who sometimes can be seen in the somewhat overgrown garden. I can't imagine how long long his car has been laid up for to look like this, thirty years? I wonder if he imagines it back on the road, take a miracle worker though I think. I think it would 'teabag' if lifted or moved, which is a shame as it's clearly a quite rare old Fiat something or other. What model though?

The second car on my walk is in a tiny overgrown old yard, with an old Peugeot quietly shuttling off its mortal coil. As I shot this a bloke came up to me and asked if I owned the land as they'd complained about rats to the council. Bournemouth is a funny old place with old people, the owner is most likely in a nursing home unable to do anything about the ray infested health risk he's left for the neighbourhood.

The next series of Bournemouth pics will be of ancient cars still on the road down there, believe me, there's a few!

That Fiat is very rare but check out that rear window, that's riper than a pear that's been on a damp window sill for 6 months.

Crikey. That Fiat looks like a proper 'dustpan' job. Shame as they're not exactly common.

Never seen one of those Fiats in my life!
Nice spotting.

I would imagine that the FIATs glasswork is worth a few quid if still in one piece.

Yeah there must be all of 0.9 people needing a set of glass for one of those Fiats! Bickle has a couple of them I think mind you.

OOoooh eeeerrrrr.    I'm literally about to scrap my accident damaged 1100r as I've not needed any parts off it on my other 2, and I cant be arsed to sort the rear end damage.

A poss donor & rhd conversion might alter my perspective....

Any chance of a note on the windscreen -or a knock on the door?  Pretty please?

Here's an 'R' I saw at a show today. Recently imported from Italy along with an Autobianchi, Gamma, Flamina and various other chod.

That looks like the bastard child of an Austin 1100/Trabbie and a Simca 1100 who joined in for a threesome. Like it.

I obviously haven't trespassed on the guys land and taken a pic of the front of his car, so I have no idea just how complete the thing is. Rain has obviously been getting in for years, so combined with being parked on grass I doubt much of the floors left to be honest. It's actually only really visible in the winter when there's no leaves on the trees. I also think I can remember these around when I was little, the back lights are very distinctive and I knew it was a Fiat. I'll look forward to how the guy feels about shifting it, or if he even responds to being asked. It'd be interesting to see if it ends up on the road again, so keep me informed. Didn't realise quite how rare it was.

Weren't these assembled from CKD kits in Ireland?

Of course it had a massive afterlife in India as the Premier Padmini.

Well, if anyone is interested what this sad old FIAT looks like now...

I've been watching it rot for a couple of years, and now most has disappeared - was it the interest on here that got parts taken, or was it robbed for scrap? Found this thread from Google images to see a) what it was and B) whether anyone else had commented on it!

I went and met the nice old gentleman. It wasn't coming out in one piece, by any means known to man. Paper thin throughout.

There wasn't much left for me, sadly, and he wouldn't let me take pieces, all or nothing, so I retired gracefully.

Pity, as I could have used the Rhd conversion, at least
