chaseracer Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I should probably have posted my namesake. It's kinda fugly, I like it. Separated at birth...? No, but both designed by the same bloke: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Loewy
SambaS Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Owt baring the Vector badge, and the Calloway Corvette Sledgehammer. Ooh and the Buick Grand National/ GNXI must illuminate now I'm at a computer.... Vector W8: Vector M12: Buick GNX: Calloway Corvette Sledgehammer: (255mph top speed in 1988)

quicksilver Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 The Septics' idea of a 'compact' always makes me laugh. Witness this hulking great Granada with a 3.8 V6 developing a mighty 112hp.(photo from Bramm77's Flickr - I can't figure out how to share things on this new-fangled improved* Flickr so thank the lord we can upload photos directly to Autoshite Mk2)
vulgalour Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Need to get some groceries? Get one of these. Don't worry if there's not enough space inside, you can put the pineapples on the roof.
purplebargeken Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Sis in Germany had a funeral directors business. She drove a Chevy Caprice hearse. That was one huge bloody thing. Seemed that at the time it was the only hearse that would do 2 coffins side by side. It took a huge amount of shopping too, but not at the same time as the coffins. http://cdn2.carsdata.net/pics/Chevrolet/chevrolet-caprice-hearse-02.jpg
Pete-M Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 A mate of mine ended up with an ex-Bernard Manning Caprice. Right hand drive, huge shaggy dralon couches, big fluffy nylontastic carpets, column change Auto with a groaning 4.1 straight six.. was awful.
eddyramrod Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 It's possible that one or two (newer) readers might be surprised by the following....I love 'em! I've had several, have one now and will, given the slightest opportunity, have more in the future. I have a 4x4 now, and in the past have had a convertible and several sedans of assorted age and quality, from a 1991 Chevy Lumina 3.1 V6 to a 1962 Cadillac with a 6.4 V8. Never yet had a station wagon, but absolutely would, especially a late-60s barge.I love 'em (just in case there's any doubt). On a related note, and apologies if this looks like a hijack: I'm failing to bond with the Blazer, so I want to move it on. I'd really like to find either an Oldsmobile Silhouette or a Pontiac TransSport, probably a 1992 model or thereabouts, with the 3.8 V6. Legal and reliable, in colour, and no more than a couple of hours away please.Well, as we were talking about Yank motors, you know.... if you've never sampled one, my Blazer might be your chance to dip a toe in the water. V6, manageable size, RHD, even a towbar!I think RHD may be a big part of the issue for me. All my others have been left-handed, the Blazer doesn't feel American enough for me because I'm sitting in the same place I would be in a Toyota or Mitsubishi.
warren t claim Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 I was wondering why you hadn't made a contribution to this thread yet! eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I haven't been using the net quite as much as usual, Warren, so I managed not to see this thread.By the way: the Cadillac and Chevy mentioned above? I owned those two at the same time! Which meant I was in the luxurious position of being able to drive both on the same day if I chose. I even took them both to a show (my mate Jeff drove the Chevy for me).
Micrashed Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Obvious but still cool as far as I'm concerned +1, either in bright orange or any other colour. I dont really do Yank Tin, they have designed some utter horrors IMHO, but I hve to say I am probably the only man in the whole of Autoshitedom that actually likes. eddyramrod 1
Junkman Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 It's possible that one or two (newer) readers might be surprised by the following....I love 'em! You are not alone. I did parts, service, and restorations for yanks for the better part of a quarter century. I also had a collection of Imperials. However, after such a long time, I felt it is time to move on and venture to stuff completely alien and unbeknownst to me, so I started to buy European cars. They are really weird.

Nope, there's a tiny little support group up here in the Lakes for you! Ours was even that colour (Inferno Pearl) and if I find a suitable automatic, I'll have exactly no hesitation in doing PT all over again! Micrashed 1

(Alleged) Running costs put me off a bit.
