Mr Lobster Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 It appeared to be in daily use too. I was sat at a Tescos just outside Bristol eating a disappointing sandwich when the elderly owner turned up, fucked about in the boot for a bit then went to do his shopping.
Alexg Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Wow Croatia must be full of total shit, looks well worth a visit. The Datsun wins for me though, brilliant.
vulgalour Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Datsun Sunny? Looks a lot like my Dad's first car (it isn't, Dad's was scrapped decades ago). I love how mental R4 owners are, maybe I should have a R4, I'd fit right in.
Partridge Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I think I need a lie down after this thread! Keep 'em coming! Cavcraft 1
Cavcraft Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Wow, that Datsun is great. Just the sort of thing you'd see loads of years ago now, and they always looked really dismal.
rml2345 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 That Datsun is indeed an excellent spot. They had probably the best wheel trims of any car ever.Those facelifted Yugos are properly hideous though. It's like someone has melted the original front with a flame thrower then just tooled up the result. I think we should have it again;
Mr Lobster Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 Wassup! Before we get to the delights* of some of the UKs finest* classic car shows, lets stay in France first of all. Despite there being plenty of new stuff about you can still find a few honeyz lurking sur la rue Fiat 238 advertising a local classic car place And this little R5 went to market... Ex fire Peugeot J9 50 Shades of Blue R4. Fetch the panty mangle girls. Outstanding in its Field etc... Lots of this sort of thing to be found in rural France. Anyway, time to get back home... its a long way at 26mpg though. Junkman 1
Mr Lobster Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 So I'm lucky* in that work takes me to a fair number of classic car shows. Happily amongst the rows of red MGs with wire wheels and shiny chrome there are a few proper cars which must get the blood pressure of some of the MGOC members on a fairly dangerous trajectory. Good. Metro owner had heavily invested in gold Hammerite. Minty Acclaim in Autoshite Team coloursNice Opel with bonus of owner having a nap. Dick Cheeseburger and Junkman 2
Mr Lobster Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 First classic show was ok but a week or two after that we took our rental VW Transporter (OMG NOT RATLUK THRIFTY AVIS EUROPCAR) down the M6 to Shugborough Hall. There was loads of shiny shite there - Old couple who owned the R21 obvioulsy loved it and it was very, very clean. Ital Estate Funky Astra was some sort of factory jobbie. Brown Cortina was TEX_SEX Richard sits at the rear, presumably Hyacinths gone for an ice cream or something Owner must be on constant lookout for passing Hiabs Escort in a sea of shit Finally for the moment, this was spectacular - Junkman, HillmanImp and I_am_Diesel 3
rml2345 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Great show chod Lobsta! That R21 was at Arley Hall in May and was indeed very clean looking.
phil_lihp Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Great photos, that Manta is wonderful, ex-rally car? Anorak mode: very rare Sapparo seems to be wearing Granada Ghia alloy wheels. As for the Yugo, I assumed that was some dreadful badly fitting aftermarket bodykit, are you sure they actually made those from new and sold them to actual people? That must be the ugliest car I've ever seen!
Mr_Bo11ox Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Excellent photos Dr_Lobsterpot. I recognise that green FE Victor from somehwere, was that show in the NW? i have a feeling I might have clocked it on a driveway in Crewe.
HillmanImp Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 As for the Yugo, I assumed that was some dreadful badly fitting aftermarket bodykit, are you sure they actually made those from new and sold them to actual people? That must be the ugliest car I've ever seen! I know its AWFUL. I don't know which one I would be more embarrased friving that or the Bedford. Good photos though.
Mr Lobster Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 Excellent photos Dr_Lobsterpot. I recognise that green FE Victor from somehwere, was that show in the NW? i have a feeling I might have clocked it on a driveway in Crewe. That one was Bodelwyddan Castle, near Rhyl so not that far from civilisation. So where were we? Oh yeh, in a field in Staffordshire. Never mind... Land yacht Small possibility this Metronome has had new wings fitted... Oldskool Ford RWD, GR8 4 DRIFTIN. Classic people carrier Centre stage on the MG stand which must have caused a chorus of tutting from others on the stand Cavette_PORN Maestro complete with badge bar Rover and his wings of many colours OM NOM NOM Next up was French Car Show and the less said about that the better. Mainly full of modified toss with a few exceptions; WANT. More later with some more high quality* chod from another classic car show in another field. Hurrah. Junkman 1
Sigmund Fraud Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Great collection of spots, Mr.Lobster ! Am I the only one who thinks that the B10 ALP plate is wasted on that BMW ? What it really needs to be on is a smoky, WVO-fuelled old Talbot !
Angrydicky Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 The early Renault 5 is such a lovely, clean design when it isn't ruined by those awful Gordini bumpers and daft wheels that most owners seem to fit. The red B reg is wonderful, even the wheels aren't that horrible. Obviously the Maestro is excellent as well. I have wondered about putting a couple of grill badges on mine, possibly AA and a Veteran Motorists' Club badge, but I think a badge bar full is a bit OTT.
Spiny Norman Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 An old R4 and an Avantime, what more could a person want?
Felly Magic Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Nice shots there Lobby I seem to recognise that red Transit, it's got a local reg to me too..
Mr Lobster Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 Continuing the fascinating* trip around some car shows and earning lots* of money, we next went to Capesthorne Hall. Presumably it seemed a good idea at the time we booked it. There was some old chod there though - Nice Mazdapotomous was for sale. £995 IIRC and looked well worth the money to me. Oldskool, ratluk, zetecinside etc etc etc 'Up Yours Clarkson' apparently. I'm not sure what to make of the person who goes to the trouble of having that put on a small plaque and then mounting it under the bonnet but still its a nice Allegro RS Turbo belongs to a customer and is super clean. Not sure what the checkerplate under the wheels is about though. 4800 miles from new Rover VdP was absolutely sexy. Metro City X no less Cambridge largely held together by lashings and lashings of wob with the white stripe being done in white gloss which has a certain irony... Carlton appears earlier in this thread with silly modern alloys, happily all is now right with the world as proper wheels and trims have been reinstated. Pontiac GTO wouldn't get kicked out of bed for dripping oil on the sheets. Capuccino parked on damp grass = festival of rust in a month or two Oversized dodgem escapes from fairground And finally for now, a rather nice Fiesta Bravo Vantman, worldofceri, Junkman and 2 others 5
phil_lihp Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Lovely, I'll take the Rover 216 Vanden Plas to go please with a side order of shonky Cambridge.
rml2345 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 That Rover VDP is TEH SEX and I would do naughty things with it.Enjoying these car show reports Lobsta, keep them coming!
Cavcraft Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 They're all brilliant, but the Allegro is the winner there, and I'm pretty sure it has been a regular at Chumley. Talking of which, one year there was quite a few Allegros there, and most (if not all) had some sort of 'Up yours, Clarkson' badges on.
Mr Lobster Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Moving swiftly along to the Lancashire Classic Car Show held at Hoghton Tower near Preston. I reckon on a nice, warm, clear, sunny, still day this would be a nice show. However, given that it is held up North those days are few and far between and so its a windy, cold, windy, cold, cold and windy place. Turnout was a bit poor but there was some stuff of interest. Renault Extra camper was pleasingly shit. Orange car is orange. Tidy Mk1 in not RS / Mexico / V5 4 SAIL shocker Supertidy Metro with all docs in window including V5 with details of first owner, Gladys Thrustlebottom from Chorley. Obviously hearse contains cofffin with body for extra comedy* effect Sprint #1 Sprint #2 Finally for now, for all the hardcore BL perverts in the house, heres an early TR7 Junkman 1
Felly Magic Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Saw that orange Fiat at Wakefield in 2009, its nice Good spottage again Monsieur Lobster
