Getting an engine moved

Recommended Posts

I've seen an engine on evilbay that would be nice to clog up a corner of my garage, but it's 4 hours drive away :(

Sent seller a message asking if he can stick it on a pallet, but appears he's not thought it thru at all. Engine is on an engine stand, and he's not got a crane or indeed any way of getting it off the stand. Bit annoying when you can get a pallet collected for £50.

Is there any other way of moving it? Can't see a shiply bloke going to hump a V6 onto his truck for buttons.

Especially if it's an Essex V6 - they weigh a bastard tonne.

What motor is it?

where is it

maybe a nearby forum member could drop it on a pallet for collection

It's a granada cosworth cologne V6 in Bristol.

I've been talking to a truck driving friend, and he thinks tell the pallet people to turn up with a truck with a tail lift, and use the tail lift to get it off the engine stand. Does that sound sensible / likely?

Yes, sadly I've had to collect similar items in the past for a pallet network. Cunts.

The only way I can think of is to use a few pallets in piles of one, two, three and four (or whatever is needed), then with some help 'step' the engine down a layer everytime until on the bottom pallet.

Hmmm, good luck, they are bastard heavy.

Some lemon collected a Scorpio twin plenum 2. 9 and MT75 'box in a Astra estate, JUst the engine had it on the bump stops

What you need is a Land Rover... just the right height to plop the engine into..... All it needs to do is get there! (And back)

Yep, shifting engines in the back of cars is definitely an option.

I managed to fit a GM x30xe V6 in the back of a Calibra & got the hatch shut without any problems.

I could chuck it in my disco, but it's 200 miles from Barnsley to Bristol n back again. A pallet is £65 and avoids 6 hours driving. Never mind, maybe when it doesn't sell it will motivate him into borrowing a crane.

This seller sounds like a particulary feckless shitehawk, who TF puts an engine up for sale without the faintest idea how they are actually going to give it to a buyer? The mind boggles.

i know that doesnt help you in this instance, but for future reference

incidently, anyone near Battle in east sussex for a similar pallet/engine adventure?

Old seat belt/farmers twine + scaff bar/big stick + two man lift + car boot = win

Surely a seller of an engine could substitute + car boot with + pallet for a paying customer.

Has anyone here used them? I booked them this week and the pallet went from my drive but no confirmation call/text/email! I had to ring them to check the local jippos hadn't nicked it off my drive! They were helpful and efficient on the phone though.

How did he get it on the engine stand in the first place?

This. Fuxake.

HSS want £35 to rent out an engine crane for the day, or £44 for the weekend, by the way.

I didn't buy the engine in the end. After I bid he put some more photos on ebay, that showed his 'complete ready to run' engine was anything but :(

Also turns out he doesn't know the difference between an alternator and an aircon pump, so WTF he was thinking of planning engine transplants I do not know.

So still looking for a BOA v6 with wiring / ecu / not bits missing if anyone see one.
