Ok..this is just an idea of sorts...a lifelong friend..ive known him since i was a kid so about 37 years..hes now officially a pensioner..and impoverished..his Mondeo is dead as hes unable to afford to MOT-insure it...my Aussie licence is all to shit..long story...but i cant get a UK one so forget that part..i want to try n get us on the road as i dont want to be dependent on Mum all the time...plus shes off to Aussie for a month..and step-dad travel jaunts are out of the question..the Mondeo aint looking that flash.hes been offered 100squid by the bridge weigh master...so...i may well be looking for something cheap n legal...ill go discuss this with my friend..its my birthday in 15mins..his is two days later....plus it just makes me sad that he cant get around...we worked together in the forestry back in the 80s..he had a Granada Estate called Harrison which every Monday n Friday got us to Mull n back...if anybodys got a shitester close to Scotland...ive got a bit of cash...but no income of sorts...all ive got is photographs to sell [1000s of cars in my Photobucket or threads]...im sold out of Cortina parts!..ideas in large letters will politely receive a big IOU...

Happy Birthday! I would get that classic Mondeo insured as a classic car first then get it MOTed between you, what's up with it?

Do you live in the middle of nowhere? You could borrow the FSO. Just ive a friend in Glasgow and at least once a year his cars get smashed up. Because they stand out I guess. It needs taxing but has MOT. I cant think when i need it next, probably October. There's no better way to travel!

I haven't got a motor for you, but can potentially volunteer delivery service of sorts, bear with me ....

In 2 weeks time I'm working in Edinburgh, but am buying/collecting a car in Edinburgh, so was planning on catching the train to Edinburgh. If you find a motah down this way (Angyl's bx for example) I may be able to collect it and drive it up to you Rab ... Then catch a train from Ft. William or wherever back to Edinburgh to pick up my new motah.

Happy birthday Rab! It's mine tomorrow... :D

Can't offer any practical help I'm afraid, but hope you manage to make something work. Good luck!

How long would you need it for and would it be safe?

Safe as cottages..it would be in Strontian [pop.350]..zero vandalism..zero car stealing...zero east european mafia...it would have full comp. insurance...and if anything happens to it...ill get my Polish classic car mate in Berlin to find us another one!..and just until Oct. as u suggested so we'd put six months tax etc on it...plus..it will used frugally...

What a beautiful part of Scotland. I have fond memories of a holiday in Mallaig on the coast there. We are driving to Loch Tay next week to have a look at the scrapyard there, not sure how that helps though as we're taking Steve's camper. I could bring the FSO but there's not TAX on it. Could arrange something though I'm sure

Was £74 I'll have to double check that and see what I can do with my insurance but I can't see it being a problem even if I cancel it

Doesn't Steve have an A-frame?

I'd gladly lend Edd and Steve my A-frame (again) but they chickened out of using it last time...

This would be in-at-the-deep-end of tat-haulage if they made that trip with the Polonez hanging off the back of Steve's Iveco!

Ooh....a Verona run out model on a P. There had quite a nice spec as I recall, we sold quite a few in the summer of 96 as Ford were clearing the decks for the mk2. Shame it's dead, can't imagine leaving a car standing up there does it any good.

But it's so sensible!

So are green wellies... Guernsey jumpers.. Labradors and highland retreats....none of which I can afford....
