Took a looksee what the stuff is made from, went to the arts&crafts place up at the shopping center, got me a big wad of acid free craft tak... filledd an old Windex squirty bottle with a rich mixture of car shampoo and water...

 

Knead the clay into a ball, use, turn, use, turn, bin. 99p for a handful. Works like a charm.

My china special clay bar arrived today, pretty quick delivery really, It is sealed in 3M wrapping but I can't believe it really is 3M, I haven't tried it yet, will do soon though.

I ordered a couple from the bay of e, but went for uk seller items for under a fiver each from sellers with a decent rating, and those with a history of selling a few. If the China 3M ( maybe fake who knows/cares ) ones are good, I might have a couple as well.

Diesel, Miramar, Flat-Press too;

These are types of Clay Bar available to you,

These little bits of plastic you find inside;

You can use those as a quality guide,

Of the standard of Clay Bar that you are smoking,

The more bits of plastic means the better the toking.

Blu-Tac works a treat and when it's dirty you can use it for other things like insulating wires...

Still waiting for mine, but I thinki prob ordered first. Knowing my luck, mine will be at the bottom of the sea somewhere or at the depot - swmbo does postal delivery surveys so we receive a variety of letters and parcels everyday. Our postman must think we never leave the house.

But to you sweep it left and right across the paint work or in a circular motion? Or do you roll it across in a ball? Is it an alternative to using t-cut?

You don't roll it, you rub it (however you like, I suppose)... have a look at the squillion demos on YouTube. And yes, it is a much better alternative to T Cut because it is less aggressive.

Use literally anything as an alternative to T cut! it's crap on modern paint. Autoglym paint renovator is the equivalent to T cut, only it was formulated to work on 2k paint rather than whatever the fuck was in use when Tcut was formulated back when people rode horses into battle and that kind of thing.

Clay is not really an abrasive, it just takes bits of tree sap and that kind of stuff off the surface. You sort of flatten it out and rub it all over the paint with a thin film of soapy water to stop it sticking, anything that pokes up above this very thin film of water gets stuck in the clay. Once the clay is sufficiently manky you knead it around to get a fresh surface, or buy a new clay bar if you're some kind of new astra owning OCD freako who spends about £500 every time he washes his brand new car.

Some of the Chinese fake products aren't too bad - as I understand it a shady factory will take an order to make X number of branded Doodahs, actually make double that amount and then sell the exess on as fakes. That was always the story with knockoff memory cards.

Turd polishing is for winnerz! Give it a go. Buy some badly packaged, suspicious blue substance on EBay, rub it over your paintwork using water as a lubricant, then finish off with a good coat of furniture polish. Your friends and neighbours will flock round to gape* in shock and awe.
