Bar Tor Stein as the Teutons may have said

Bargate stone was quarried in areas of the Greensand ridge around the Guildford/Godalming  area of Surrey, the supplies are now almost exhausted so very little is used in new builds but there are several existing local buildings where it is used and even some retaining walls made of the stuff.  .   I parked near a smoll road called Quarry Hill in Godalming and, imagine my surprise, when I returned some local or other have left me a present of a piece of Bargate stone.   Notice the warm honey colour typical of Bargate rather than the darker ironstone type.

The humanity... At least, opening rear windows plus extremely popular smol car mean replacement should be neither difficult nor expensive. Count your blessings, and all that !

Edit : Any plans to roffle the stone ? "Surrey thatched cottage, spares or repair" ?

Popular smoll car now has full complement of windows   AS stickers after a quick trip to Kentish scrappy.   Stone has been sent for DNA testing in case the militant wing of TDW have left any traces.
