Would I be mad? I have no need for it, but I like it....

No, quite the reverse. The slide bed alone will be worth decent money if it's all working and ok. What will help you (if you bid) is that it's (probably) miles from a lot of eBayers and there's only one picture. You don't know what condition most of the rest of it is in and you don't know how long the bed is.

I expect it'll be fairly slow top end but have bags of torque, I'm pretty sure these have Pekins engines.

Yep, that'll probably be running a Perkins 6.354. They're not a bad little truck, if not the quickest thing on the road (120bhp for 7.5 tonnes isn't a lot). IIRC they were originally a Commer design.

I used to drive a dropside one back in the mid 80s when they were called Dodge Commandos. The firm I worked for had 6 new ones on the road and they very rarely gave any problems even tho we would cover intergalactic mileages with them.

Vey good truck actually and ten times better to drive than a Cargo.

One life, live it, buy the bloody thing.

Thats ace - buy it - you can rent it out to fellow shiters! I fancy it myself - lets go halves - and other silly ideas!! At 7.5t you can drive on a car licence right?

Would that not be mot exempt?

Don't. Just don't.

If you got your car license before 1997, you should be able to drive it provided you didn't overload it past that because you automatically got C1 entitlement. I think you got D1 as well for 16 seaters. Licenses after 1997 only do you as far as 3.5 tonne because you only get B entitlement.

In Other News...

Seeing as I got my car license in 2003, I'm therefore limited to 3.5 tonne

I got my bus license in 2007 with a manual bus. Still can't touch anything bigger than a Transit. Not even a luton. Unless it's a bus.

I got my bus + trailer in 2011 with an auto bus. I can drive something that weighs near 30 tonne fully laden at 15 (tractor) + 3.75 (trailer) metres long but If I want to carry more than 2 pallets in a van I'm stuffed. However if I get a 10m bus, with a 8.75m trailer, I can load it with many many tonnes of shit provided I don't go past the train weight of the tractor. Also, being as I passed the D+E in an auto, I can only tow with an auto. This filtered down to car license. B+E with me is auto only.

How shit is the licensing situation in this country? 1 x Angryness
