First FSO purchase of 2013

Sambas and I were sober last night but Benno and Richieg were several sheets to the wind so were easily persuaded that this was a good idea. I'll text Ben later this morning just to remind him what he has jointly bought

What a start to 2013.

You wake up, somewhat bleary-eyed and hungover at what on a normal day would be considered lunchtime, and a bloke who up until that point you'd considered one of your mates tells you that while you were pissed and semi-conscious, he's 'volunteered' you to buy a crumbling ruin of a Polski Fiat. 8)

FSO 125P update:

First job of the day was breathing some life into this:

To do so Steve had to fit an ignition switch to the car, which had the wrong number of wires (we are yet to figure out what the mystery 5th wire does). Then we whacked a battery on it and oh my good gosh it turned over. No spark, cue a bit of points fettling and it coughed. 5 minutes later running on pure optimism (not petrol the petrol was stale) it fired into quite healthy sounding life. Yay.

Here I am fitting an door handle, Steve had a pair in his 80,000 strong back catologue of FSO parts:

KruJoe had been accumulating rain water, anyway I used it all doing this:

Final points to note, the gearbox is fhukt, the linkage onto the top had been welded and snapped so it's find the part or change the box, so sadly no drivey. Also all the calipers came off to be recommissioned *of their own accord, maybe. And that's that really. Bit of a ball ache that the engine and box gonna have to come out.

Right my lasagne pinged about half an hour ago, its probably refrozen by now. Arivi -taraa

Its a great car this, what about chucking a better engine in? I'd be tempted, probably an MX-5 effort

Awesome! I would love a go in one of these. I look forward to more pictures!

This POS is absolutely hanging. It's perfect!

The gear linkage is broken under the tunnel. A previous owner had cut a little access hatch to bodge a fix, but it's broken again. The box will have to come out to replace the part properly.

The clutch and cylinders thereof will need attention anyhow. What fun!

It'd be rude not to.

Well, to be honest, I just couldn't help myself

He delivers! thanks!

This thing is so spectacularly awful that I can't get enough of it. Super shite - super cool.

I love the 'bodge access hatch'.

That's spectacular! It's rotten in places no car has a right to rust (rear pillar!!?). And that dash must be the shittiest ever! But that's why I love it. Heroic stuff. Thought my Caro was bad, but it's like a Roller by comparison!

I think they rank as the shite-est tyres ever. I remember a discussion a few years ago on the subject...

Holy Mother of Pearl - doing that 125p up is going to be a challenge and a half.

Best of British luck, chaps!

That belt was a b2£$%^d to change, as you needed an ENORMOUS spanner to get the crankcase bolt off.

Somthing ridiculous like a 33mm or 35mm nut?? Yeh I had one similar on Olga.

Luckily my Dad scored a triple win - Motor Mechanic, Farmer, and Hoarder, so we have a good selection of MAHUSIVE tools!

Believed to have left the UK. Sold to Steve, Steve sold it on again, Jas sold again.

Mea Maxima Culpa.
