If you've just paid out £385, why not run it? With all the generosity in the world, (and I am a generous man, ask my ex wife), you are not going to get much for nowt.

This is why you should never take out car finance. Sorry but you're going to have to learn like the rest of us! As has been said, if it's now roadworthy, get on and use it. The best you can do really is look into consolidating the finance into a standard bank loan. Giving the car back isn't the answer as you may actually still owe more than the car is worth.

No chance.

I don't see why anyone should give you a car. You do realise cars cost money to run, right?

Least you know now that finance companies are cunts and that new car credit's a complete waste of space.

And yeah, I bought a car on finance, but I stumped up a fair deposit up front, and kept it. The car owes me nothing and hasn't done for four years, even though it was a massive pain in the arse in the first 18 months I had it.

If you try and give the car back, they'll give you the lowest book possible for it and then chase you for the difference left on the loan.

Buying a car isn't the most expensive part. Fuel (if you do any kind of miles), insurance, road tax and even minor things like a couple of tyres and a set of brake pads can be way more than a car cost.

If you're after something cheap but likely to be reliable you might get more help? Free and needing nothing might be a tall order

Ahhh, so nice. I had someone collect an engine off me for free once. Bastards.

I have a Land Rover you can have for free. It's a Q plated shortened ex-Military heavy duty unit, It only needs a pair of axles, props, springs, gearbox, engine, cooling system, electrics, bodywork, interior etc. I could list more stuff. Oh, there is a catch. No V5. Have you tried Freecycle? Or Samaritans?

Considering the VOSA rate for a MOT is £54.85 which we charge, and always have bookings, the rest of what was charged isn't that bad - less than £10 a week over a year.

You can soon spend £500 on a motor these days quite quickly;its possible to also jump out of the frying pan into the fire !

I used to get that mainly from Irish accented folks in transit pickups. And oval racers wanting to use one of my 3 doors for hot rodding, but they gave up in the end and I got to know the oval lads, now I get one chap looking out for cars for me lol

You know what guys? I top you all.

I want a car and being paid to take it away! So how much do y'all offer me to help you regain some much needed space in your front gardens?

What a remarkable request!

Why did you not hand back your car prior to the work being done and use the £385 to buy something else?

I'd like a free car too please.

And one of those money trees.

And a stick for my moon.

If only you'd asked a month ago! The owner of this fine* quality* reliable* vehicle* decided for absolutely no reason at all to give it away for scrap. It only needed 4 tyres, a good wash and an engine.

Are you kidding? I had to put an engine in a 2.0 petrol one of these once, inspite of the new engine being from the same model and year, it still took ages of modifying this, changing that because nothing was the same as the old unit on the cunting fucking thing.

If I was bleeding out on the pavement and that thing turned up, I'd ask the driver to call me a better ambulance.

So the car has chinged you £385 for its MOT - its likely if they are bits not covered by the warranty they would be normal wear and tear items? Am I right?

How much is it rushing you a month on finance? How long have you got to go? Are you over the halfway mark to be able to hand back? Have you had a settlement figure off the finance?

These are things we need to know before anyone can really give you objective advice.

And one of those money trees.

I bought on of those from Samantha Fox's ex boyfriends Nursery. They used to have an advert in the News Of The World.

'+1'

I'm interested to know about this 'worthless guarantee' as I suspect it didn't cover consumables, I'd be surprised if any ever do.

Still, you can't knock the lad for trying [to get a free car] and at least it wasn't a sob story about his one legged lesbian sister who needs it to pick her kids up from the disabled school.

I had her.... Strangely she became a lesbian shortly after going out with me.

Your sister became a lesbian? After going out with you? Sure you were 'staying in'...?

I didn't even know he was Welsh.
