Do none of the following:

Matt black

Stickers everywhere

Tinted windows

Lowering with a junior hacksaw

Retarded camber

Rage universal backboxes.

SHOCK HORROR, you could just get it through an MOT and drive it about.

A few details might help; what body/engine is it? What state is it in?

Pics would be even better, give us something to perv over...

Personally, I would drive it as it is, they're great cars. Other than the 1200 pushrod, any one would be fine for day to day use.

Agree with all of the above.

They're a rare sight on the roads nowadays so a tidy standard-ish one will stand out for all the right reasons.

Cavette speaks great sense with his examples. At £75 I'd be surprised if it's any good, to be perfectly honest, but then I'm often surprised by what people can get for peanuts these days. Fix it, get it road legal and use it for a few months before worrying about any modifications. The Mk2 is a nice shape to start with, so less is definitely more.

Merit spec is for winners.

I fancied a mark 2 Astra as my 2nd car but ended up with a dreary Escort instead.

I'd put a velour interior from a scrapped CD spec in it. maybe CD or GTE alloys on it too. Those Cavalier/Calibra ones in Cavette's post look nice too. 8)

If it's an estate in that (China?) blue above or Reed green, don't do anything to it just sell it to me please. The estate ones of these are ace, kind of ultra dismal as most were really shit spec'd company hack type ones.

This had made me LOL.

All true though. One thing to remember though is that a juicy red Astra is nice, but not every Astra is red. natural is sweeter, natural is sweeter, natural is sweeter, natural is sweeteeeeeer, and then skin up.*

* I reckon I have maybe gone a bit leftfield on this one TBH

It's a h reg 1.4 with tax and mot. Bought it from a workmate who has used it for the past 4 years

Has a bit of rust but the engine runs fine. Will upload a pic when I work out how

^ Just ignore Pete-M, he doesn't like Vauxhalls and thinks that gives him the right to take the piss out of the brand all the time. Thankfully we don't all share this affliction otherwise it would be flame war carnage in here.

Apart from that, Pete-M is OK though. Bit like a much loved but embarrassing old labrador that farts pungently when guests come round.

project is back on the go just bought a new wing for £5 does the front bumper have to come off to remove the wing?

Posted

I'm pretty sure it does as there will be bolts on the side that you need to undo.

Edit: Yep, check out the two holes seen in the picture...
