Spotted this at a show yesterday, The rear window was two parts of perspex that had been joined by tons of mastic, every panel was damaged, the interior was a wreck, it was covered in sand and the tax was out by 2 months, yet the owner still drive it home a short while later.

Wow. Perhaps it's some new take on the rat-look thing. You know what those Rover scene dudes are like...

The tax in the windscreen ran out at the end of May 12?

the tax on my screen ran out in October 2011, the valid tax disc runs out end of October this year. It's an experiment in checking out to see if the rozzers ever notice!

They do. I got a ticket once for putting my new tax disc on display four days late!

They might. There's a "failure to display" which is a lesser offence than no tax at all - you'll get a fine (usually £30, I think the maximum is £100) but your car won't get seized like if it was untaxed.

These days, with ANPR and ting, they're less likely to care. My feeling is most people get stung with a fine if they piss their neighbours off who then look for a reason to dob you in, or wind up a policeman till he's actually looking for things. I ran around for 6 weeks with an old disc - new one paid for and sat on top of the microwave, still in the envelope.

That's top quality. I take my hat off to the geezer for having such a fine specimen of shite. I bet does not even know it!!

Talking of the Rover scene thingy, there are a few old dudes round my way with extra chrome bling on their 75's. Maybe a new trend is on the way. Forget the'dub scene & welcome to the Rover scene rat look styleeee.

Can you see anything it would fail an MOT on?

It actually looks quite solid in the usual Rover 600 grot spots.

TBH at the moment there's some cars in our village as dirty as that, the harvest work has been very dusty and the tractors zooming up and down turned it into a dust bowl.

Every car in my village is as dirty as that! Every car in Cyprus is constantly covered in sand, you just have to wash them if they're going somewhere special, like to MoT. I did the van the other day, several weeks after last time, and discovered it's actually red... (and it hasn't turned a wheel on the road yet!)
