My last car in UK before I moved here was a Mercedes C250TD Estate 1996, it was a good car let down by loads of rust marks around the edges - I discovered that the silver paintwork was a perfect match for silver hammerite smooth, I managed to make quite a good job of brush painting all of the rusty bits!

I MOT a R***JNH Mercedes estate, and thats just as bad for rust - that was a bad period for Mercedes,I think they salt bathed them instead of zinc dipping them !

Riding shotgun down the A1M near Newark the other night.... I was able to get this (using my phone) as the Wife whizzed past. It's a stepside!

there are also a lot of Mercs of that age that were a failed export to somewhere hot - they had minimal rust proofing and it shows.

Apparently the 41st built RHD, 2 owners, used to be White, the only one in the country, and much sought after. I'd roll in it fer sure.

I know of two more US built RHD ones, a LHD one and at least a dozen or so Oz built ones. Granted, the Oz ones are 62 model year based, so they have different taillights.

Dacia looks like it's belming. I'm putting money on this being the fastest brand to go from "new" to "shite", perhaps even negative time?

Pillock, +50 points for the "Joey Deacon" reference. It made Oi larf.

I hope so. I actually quite like the sandero, as a cheap basic daily motor, but I want to see if they will depreciate like an old lada first.

Proton SAVVY, as in mine.... I reckon you can get a 55 plate, off a 'lot', for less than a Cat# >> 'keys, runs, no airbag deploy'

 assuming anyone would be seen in one.......

I keep eyeing those Kia Magentis things up and wondering how long it'll be before I own one. They sort of look like the start of that car Homer designed in the Simpsons and the name sounds like some sort of galloping fanny rot.

i agree, i get the logics behind it but i dont understand why they bothered, but they are fun little cars and you can do almost anything with them in terms of modification. i love my nova saloon. very reliable

I went over to Liverpool today, I saw one of those Dusters hammering it in the outside lane, climbing over Saddleworth on the M62 :smile:

Also saw a 2CV and X1/9 on the M62 (No, they weren't on the hard shoulder)...

I also a silver Renault 30 on the M180 heading west near Doncaster services...It was on Renault or Iveco (couldn't tell, too quick) beavertail so I'm guessing this is the one that Ratdat recently E-bayed and has gone on to pastures new...

No pics I'm afraid

The saloons make perfect sense to me. I fail to see half as much shite-factor in the hatchbacks.

It's shite... and that's why I would go for a good one in a shot

See above ;)  It's the shite that counts.

Not being funny mate, but how would you know?

You can't legally drive yet, apparently, and you've probably got limited spannering knowledge compared to a lot of people in here so I suspect you're only quoting 3rd party knowledge.

It might be best to wait until you've done stuff first hand before having too much of an opinion.

I'm not intending to put you down, just offer a bit of advice... please don't take offence.

Good spot on the Renault 30 heading down the M180, t'was I taking it back to sunny Manchester after collecting the car from Ratdat. It has now joined my Tagora SX , other 30TX, Safrane RXE 3.0, R25 Baccara 2.9 etc etc.

I need to learn how to post pics on here, there is loads of shite round my way (S.E. Essex). I was in Kos the other week, the island is basically one big shite fest in the sun including a white 205 1.9 GTi totally standard outside our hotel.
