That K70 posted by Bols is a corker.

If you can weld it's not too bad, everything is pretty simple.
List of welding needed-
Sills, edge of rear arches, bottom of front doors, rear jacking points, top of front wing, small patch inside front wing.
Currently a non runner, lack of fuel pipe, water hose and starter motor.
One NOS headlight to replace the missing one.
The tyres will need replacing.

So - faced with that list, what would you do?

Yup - destroy the front suspension and lob a roof rack on.

Still, at least you'll get the rack and the trendy wheels if you win it.

Comes on 14" K70 standard steels not the Porsche space savers, roof-rack not included.

Oh.

I'm sure that ital pick up was at Newark autojumble last month at a price in 4 figures. If it was the same one i hope they used a trailer. There wasn't much rot cause the steel the rot was attached to had fallen off !

For many years this van belonged to our local stable suppliers who used it to deliver salt licks...

I'm considering getting a small and cheap second car for a commute that's just over two miles - it seems it would be cheaper to own a car for 18 months than to get the bus presuming the car costs about £600 and doesn't break down much, so I was very taken with an advert seen on gumtree for a 1 litre Polo for only £575 and not too far away.

That's got to be perfect - reliable, simple to work on, small, cheap to run and insure. What could possibly go wrong?

Ah, now that's an acquired taste I haven't acquired. Still, it's cheap. What's the front like - hopefully there isn't a big blue light blocking the view!

Oh dear - I hate cars where my view is blocked by big blue lights in the middle of the bonnet, as well as redundant bonnet-mounted 'wing mirrors' I'm sure the Iron Cross stickers would come off. Anyway, who care what the outside looks like? I won't be able to see (much) of it when I'm sat behind the well made dashboard. It's a shame they're so austere in these cheap VWs, but at least they don't have loose bits of trim.

That bit over the glove box will tuck in I'm sure.

It's a pretty neat looking car, I'm sure you'll agree. It's not just you and I though:

RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT A REAL EYE CATCHER THIS CAR HAS WON TROPHYS BY PREVIOUS OWNER!!

But you're wondering if there is anything that *really* makes it stand out, aren't you? Well there is always the practical boot:

Expensive ?

That's been lowered [unless it's so rotten that the suspension is making it's way up through the body.] Electric fan isn't standard, nor is the brake servo. Might have an MGB lump in it, as the MGB water pump fan doesn't clear the rad when bolted in. Steering wheel is an abortion.

I wonder if you could cut the back off and fit some checker-plate then offer scene-taxed super-slow vehicle recovery for broken down beetles.

 Very slow:

There is no engine or gearbox

(although slow is good when you have no windscreen either)

£1195, which despite some bodgery is actually good VFM in my shit opinion. It's got C20XE ON THE INSIDE too, so it's a bit of a winner's car. Considering the vendor also appears to be rolling in a 306 estate, he's quite clearly a man of great taste.

Ignoring the inevitable 'doctor bashing' that will probably ensue, that really is a lovely bit of kit. I can remember the 2.3Gl models (as I had one that was a bit shit) but a 2.8GL must be really rare, it's even got wheel trims.

Bloody lovely car that and no mistaking.

Surely the vendor should have spent his cash on getting some teeth rather than installing a toilet in his boot?

I thought it was the height of technical wizardry when they gave us a phone with a camera in it - now this Renner seller's got a camera in his soup bowl. Snap while you sup!
