A trip into town. More shite added 02/05/2012

So I disappeared into town today to have my hair cut. The barbers was full of screaming children so my hair will have to wait. However it was an excellent day for a spot of autoshite twitching. Enjoy!

First in the supermarket car-park was this Escort:

img0317pl.jpg

If it was on ebay the ad would read:

1 little almost dead lady owner from new, -17,200 miles, first too see will spontaniously combust, that is how good this car is.

Then there was this beige-tastic Polo C Formal E. I like.

img0318uz.jpg

On the way back to the Sierra, my first spot was a very tidy Mk4 Escort saloon with bullbars! Unfortunatly the old boy driving it (who I swear was Poirot in a flatcap) was giving it the beans and I didn't get the time for a snap.

Then there was this delightful Proton parked up, with a fantastic sticker...

Shortly after, nestling in a side street was this wonderful barge of a Rover 800:

At which point I spotted quite possibly the best car of the trip, A Vauxhall Nova Minge-Mobile Special.

I think this picture sums it up best:

So all in all a fairly pointless but quite amusing jaunt around my local crappy market town. I apolagise in advance for the Iphone-case and occasional finger being in the way of the lense. There is no excuse. Although I may come up with one anyway.

Hmmm...those early Mk4 Escorts seem to be popping up all over the place. Some nice little spots there.....apart from the Nova which is completely ruined.

Posted

That Nova is possibly the worst thing I've seen all year. I wonder if they used a big bit of polystyrene packaging from their budget brand 60" flatscreen for the back bumper/'diffuser'?

Top spots, sir!

Brillaint stuff man, thanks for putting these up!

Brilliant stuf! I do love these barge Rover 800s having about 3 of them myself. RAC says this is a Rover 825Si Auto, I think this is almost RoadworkUK spec, though the seat from your pic look as if they are leather, I could be wrong.

My cousin had a Nova almost as bad as that, some serious bodgeness going on. I think he told me that he used some chopped-up side skirts from an Escort. I should have some pics somewhere.

Do like me and leanr to cut your own hair. Last time I went for trim (about 10 years ago) it cost me about £5 and even then I thought it was expensive (The price had just risen by about a 50 pence - yes I was that stingy, not much has changed)

That poor Nova. One day im guna make a point of buying summit like that just to put back to original!

They BETTER NOT fob me off with that daft new style lettering on my new plates tamoz for the FSO. (a la Nova)

Posted

So once you have the number, order a pair from the likes of Framptons, you can choose what style you want. :D You can put up with whatever you're given until they arrive, surely?

Depends where you get your plates anyway, you may have a choice of style. When I sold YFR 716 off my leBaron, I was given the docs with G427 FKC and sent away to get my plates made wherever I wanted.

Posted

yea, should get my new reg. through the post then go get plates made up, fancy black metal ones tho not legal, best stick to white/yellow

Posted

That'll be right, black is just wrong on a Polonez, as on so many cars. Unless you can get it in an eastern-European font...!

I can't believe people are still doing that sort of shit to old Novas, part of me wants to believe it is a recent barn find that was parked up in 1998 but somehow I doubt it.

Still, nice to imagine that some deft rearranging of the old pub lettering will spell 'The Arsehole', very apt.

My Mk1 Fiesta was in ATS for a tracking check and to sort out the irritating wheel wobble at exactly 65MPH.

'It'll be about an hour mate' I was told, so with nothing relevant to do and a 40 minute walk home, I did a spot of shite spotting. Get ready for a mass onslaught of pictures:

First was this very nice Suzuki Swift, with 4WD for the OMFG wet leaves khaos!

swiftdg.jpg

Then this charmingly miserable Diahtasu Grand-move

grandmove.jpg

And this Camero with extra fun police paint:

The local supermarket gave me this pair of beauties:

Closely followed by

Then what is this? Handling by Lotus, this must be some sort of sprots car, or at the very least a hot-hatch...

horizon2.jpg

Hmm, I never knew Talbot made a Lotus Horizon as well as a Lotus Sunbeam...

horizon3.jpg

Oh, wait...

horizon1.jpg

Next up, from the centre of town we have this Rover,

rover216.jpg

This Luxury Daewoo

leganza.jpg

And this wonderful Rio from Korea's 2nd most characterful car manufaturer

riowf.jpg

Next on to the hospital which had sparse pickings:

escrote.jpg

ovlov.jpg

And the supermarket across the road was even more disapointing, despite usually being a beigemine of chod.

It was at this point that I decided to venture towards the towns 3 most illustrious council estate

I think this best sums up the area, note lack of phone and strategically placed bag of dog (I assume) turd.

I was on to an immediate winner:

If I had a sharpy with me, I would have quickly added an S and and E to this:

autohit.jpg

Especially when you see what it is adorning:

autohit2.jpg

Notice the 'Fuk' wheel trims, foreign plates and beautifully sculpted parking dents

This was delightfully crusty around the edges

fiestarusty.jpg

And some clot has completely ruined this:

focus1xi.jpg

Someone really should tell him that just because you have a badge, saying your car has something, does not make it so. And look at those horrid chrome strakes...

fiestaz.jpg

This is so hideous, it surelly has to count as autoshite:

Pisshat

Good to see this is still alive and well. NOT! Just out of shot, the amusing* sticker in the rear window proclaiming 'you have been NOVAtaken!'. Hanging is too humane for some people.

novataken.jpg

rangeroverx.jpg

Rather weather beaten Disastra:

disastra.jpg

miniyd.jpg

And OMFG old Land Rover not stolen for export shocker!

landrover.jpg

Then came the big one, that full of wad and almost scrap piece of shite we all love:

pony1t.jpg

Hyundai Pony on home made Polish plate. Held together with silver gaffa tape and hope.

pony2d.jpg

By this point my hour was up and I made my way back to ATS, there were a few spots but nothing spectacular.

rover800.jpg

And to finish, here is another Camaro looking sorry for itself. Still someone’s daily driver though!

camero.jpg

I appolagise to all those viewing over 3g, that must be your entire data limit used up from one post, but hope you have enjoyed it all the same.

Also sorry about the spelling. I've just had a quick gander through my post and now see that my generic word processor wasn't auto correcting spellings and now I can't be arsed to go back and fix it, so I'm afraid you are just going to have to put up with the eBay seller spelling standards.

Is it wrong to like the "Police" Camaro??

Posted

Great post Phil - The Rover 800 is an 820i. Nice to see an early mk2 800 on the road still.

The brother of my local shopkeeper has a very similar Red Camaro to the Red one you spotted, got chatting to him a few weeks ago, he's had his Camaro since around 1992 I think. I shall include it in my next spooted post...

There used to be a Nova round Teville gate in Worthing saying 'they think its all Nova....' on the front of it and '.....it is now!' on the back. I did actually quite like that and i'm Scottish.

Its just reminded me of another one who instead of having 'On a mission' on the rear window had 'On a pill'. I wonder how often he got pulled over?

Lacquer peel is the new rat-look - you can't fake patina like this...

Also, the Suzuki Swift is a Subaru Justy!
