I hadn't spotted the a pillar! I've just seen that model supplies do sets of 15 beacons/sirens not cheap though...

Maybe it's a parts car as it needs a new transparency too.

I’ll have a look, might have some spares.

I'm really digging this one as well. Like the Subaru before, the proportions are spot on.

It needs more than just the red light though!

I’d normally say treat it as a donor as your a-pillar will not gain an MOT

Superglue, baking powder if you're impatient.

I did pick it up. But to be fair it felt cheap light and flimsy after my Genuine OEM Made in England one

It’s a deal it’s a steal it’s a sale of the autoshiteness

It will* become a slot car in and might* even become a resin buck

There's a Mod Rod in there and all... you're on a mission to collect all of them right?

In all seriousness though, that looks a cracking selection on the stall - and somewhat better organised than Belfast's efforts.

I quite fancy the Matchbox SD1 police car...

Can we have a little chat about the Fiat 500 and the 2CV...?

Posted

In the absence of any hot HW buying action this weekend, I've been pissing about with some of the 1/43 collection.

A little while ago, I got hold of the Vanguards Corrina MK4 in signal yellow, as featured in the Sweeney 2 movie. It was a fraction of the price they normally go for but sadly it came unboxed and was slightly 'playworn'. In fact somewhat nearer to the condition of the real car after it smashed through the shop window than before it...

i032629.jpg.0e6b62a72486eeeb32cec311b2b59d10.jpg

Just by chance I came across a bloke on eBay selling little parts bags for modern Corgi models. To my delight there was a pack of spotlights, mirrors and wipers for the MK4 Cortina S, exactly what I needed. It looks so much better now, and still doesn't even owe me a tenner all in,

IMG_20191020_220747.thumb.jpg.bcb457a4e043a887a27c4570f5a54e00.jpg

I also got a pair of mirrors for my treasured Trofeu Escort sport, it had its originals smashed off in the great display unit shelf collapse incident of a few years ago. They may be a tad big, being for a Cortina, but better than none at all. It might be a bit battered but I love this model, it's one I will never part with,

IMG_20191123_184800.thumb.jpg.e71629dcd31143834f110961aa95c1ac.jpg

I also had my Vanguards Boy Racer Escort out. Ive never been happy with the ride height of this one, with it meant to be a RWYB/ drag style car. So I got to work with a couple of rolled up bits of card stuck under the axles, pushing the suspension rods up (rudimentary lowering blocks innit?), giving a ride height that suits it better IMO,

IMG_20190706_165455.thumb.jpg.53f1be3c1c27992b01640361c5e17929.jpg

And I did the same with another battered and bruised Vanguards Escort, this time a Mexico, looks very "Harris brothers" with the wide steelies M8...

Got all my display cabinets illuminated now thanks to a load of LEDs and transformers from a shop rip out. 1st cabinet is a CD tower on its side with an additional shelf, other two are old bookcases that feel very home-made. Might make some additional perspex shelves for these as I also got several large sheets from the shop.

I love the Matchbox car transporter - loading up with RR Phantoms before it's off on the road to your local dealership.

some recent acquisitions, some from off this forum, and some from swap-meets and the like.

first, a Corgi ERF tipper. an odd sized model, but a lovely looking truck, and its seems quite common, something like 950,000 been made over a 5 year run.

DSCN9201.thumb.JPG.717db37cabc8eda391882047cc073e16.JPG

DSCN9203.thumb.JPG.fe42f2af5ec33236b5c2e61cface3353.JPG

then some Husky and Corgi Juniors,  both from off this site, its a Guy Big J tanker and Dodge Magnum, which i understand is a rare model, though only worth anything if its still in its blister pack.

252485268_DSCN9205-Copy.thumb.JPG.ab064120f34b9eb66d95c0ab7a6b8ecd.JPG

DSCN9206.thumb.JPG.30e8b1099b676b4ecc0f1eca4a3e146a.JPG

and so to the Matchbox 1-75 series, AEC Routemaster, a Leyland Ergomatic tanker, and a Capri.

DSCN9207.thumb.JPG.b5bbe932e31ec5aa3a42195f43bdc533.JPG

the Routemaster actually is bigger than i was expecting! the Capri is really, really nice

DSCN9212.thumb.JPG.badb1c19e2d08677223ddb9235f5d5cc.JPG

then a Dinky Supermarine Swift, Supermarines alternative to the Hunter, the Air Ministry really wanted to buy Swifts, though the Hunter was the better aircraft.

DSCN9213.thumb.JPG.938aa46bc23a3f4570fe7b4435aa93e8.JPG

and pictured with is (superior) rival

DSCN9216.thumb.JPG.647fb4a675c821825b54fa7ef060ed11.JPG

now a real odderty, a Lone Star 000 Union Pacific F7 diesel, sadly i have recently dropped this and damaged one of the wheel sets. thus proving that i cannot, or deserve to have anything nice :-(

DSCN9217.thumb.JPG.bbe69c9ced3bbe868c6b59c6beea6996.JPG

DSCN9219.thumb.JPG.6332fb0fbed2177754eec0f610d144ad.JPG

next a slice of real americanna, in the form of a Dinky Dodge Royal sedan and Corgi Buick Riviera. and also showing just how fashions change in a few short years, as tail fins disappear

DSCN9221.thumb.JPG.e1afbb715964daee5203c88959727528.JPG

DSCN9223.thumb.JPG.2b24e7d974e66f93758e65503f6ee7b1.JPG

DSCN9225.thumb.JPG.a1436632be1fe84086acf399b00de240.JPG

at the time i got the Dodge, i also bought this Dinky Hillman Minx, complete with period additions of a tax disk and numberplates

DSCN9226.thumb.JPG.65ee5ddca590356545fe0f75437156dc.JPG

DSCN9227.thumb.JPG.87aeec53954295bfee573338bc33c122.JPG

i also finally got one of these, a Dinky Morris Mini-minor, i have an Atlas repro one of these, but i wanted a "real" one too. thiss too has had a tax disk added at some point in its life

DSCN9228.thumb.JPG.8740c4f0cc41adb7d6588fe43aa55e07.JPGDSCN9229.thumb.JPG.3846f87061fa9adc6d916a3c1e333146.JPGDSCN9231.thumb.JPG.5db02fd4f1cccbb60c72b45345da3cdf.JPG

and finally - another oddity, in the shape of a Corgi Morris Marina Coupe, this too is larger than i was expecting (even though i saw it with other cars when i bought it) as its 1/43 or 0 gauge sized, i was expecting it too be more in line with the Corgi Junior sized, instead of the bigger scale, maybe there are 2 versions? it is in played with condition, and as well as various paint chips i has a crack in the back window, but so what? it wasn't an expensive thing when i bought it!

The Marina is a bid of an odd scale, half way between Matchbox/Corgi Junior and Superking

Toot toot here's the Postman delivering another shipment from NI!

In love with the big plastic Fiat, my Alfa finally has a friend after I regrettably chose it over the 127 in the Newsagents in 1983:

I also noticed a casting variation on the Corgi Capri:

Getting the Christmas decorations down always ends in me becoming distracted. Had a wee peep at my own tat boxes.
