Nice collection; seems a few of these have been issued before by DeAgostini for collections marketed in other countries, but always good to see them get another outing again. Mk2 Golf would be my pick from the initial 10!

Might give @IronStar a chance to pick up a Yugo Florida in 1/43 scale for not too much cash, if they're also available from online sellers?

The 2.99 Zhiguli is already being listed by resellers for only 14.99......

We had these here, all snatched by resellers on day 1. :( I flat out refuse to pay scalper pricing on any of the Zastavas, but I guess similar thing will happen over there.

I don't mind trying to grab any if anyone wants them, posting them out is the main problem as I wouldn't trust the BG post office at all.

I’d love Yugo and Florida if you don’t mind! I guess they will be less desirable there so easier to buy

As alluded to in my previous post about the artic trailer I was modifying into a flatbed, it needs a tractor unit…

A while back I got myself a nice 3D printed GUY J4t kit. It’s designed for model railway use as a static model really but with O gauge and 1:43 being the same it provides a good cab model. I sold the chassis parts on to recoup a bit of the purchase cost.
So I decided to adapt the 3D printed cab onto the heavily modified chassis from one of the IXO based truck donors I’ve got, in a similar way to that AEC Ergomatic 8x4 I’m still building.

Heres the tractor unit loosely assembled.
I’ve had to completely remove the original (Dodge C38T) cab mounting plate so the new GUY parts fit. Scratch built fuel tank from plastic sections and wire, moved the 5th wheel coupling forward, new trailer guide plates etc etc.

And with its trailer,

Still loads to do of course! I’m really enjoying building these!! Shame nobody will pay me to sit and do it!

Heres the truck I’m vaguely modelling it from.

Have you got a link for it? I couldn’t find anything when I looked.

The Golf is definitely one I’d like…

Quick speedrun through the Tesco/ Entertainer hellscape yesterday didn't exactly set my heart a-thumping.

IMG_20240923_1831492.jpg.a733493f16dcfb2cc9c0e226ac11f1fc.jpg

Plenty of Matchbox in stock, but they're still just the same old mid-2023 releases we've seen in multiple stores for over a year now.

IMG_20240923_1830012.jpg.af6cadd31fe7fc6f353c4907916ba6c5.jpg

I mean, there's still some decent castings to be found in there - but there can't be many collectors who haven't had their fill of this lot already. And are there many kiddies buying them, at these prices?

IMG_20240923_1830242.jpg.ccb6ba3b87fc93ca4dc2f3ea20657275.jpg

Hot Wheels are a slightly less ancient mix, but the same feeling applies. And why buy for £2.40 in Tesco, when Home Bargains do them for £1.49 and Poundland have them on long-term offer for just a pound (and presumably aren't making a loss on them, either)?

I haven't seen any new HW Premiums on the pegs here since the summer; many of them are reduced a bit, but I've either already got them, or I don't much want them.

One thing seems likely, though: there won't be any new Mattel stuff gracing the shelves until the old stuff sells through. And that might take quite a while yet.

These Majorettes were new, though:

IMG_20240923_1833192.jpg.c37d64b2c03c8b50e7668bee7dbfdcb4.jpg

A little lairy for my tastes, perhaps, but quite striking.

IMG_20240923_1833452.jpg.6fb9fd2f39d12c8886043269a931b428.jpg

Strong money for an impulse purchase at £6 a throw, but with opening bits, bonus clip-on accessories and an extra box, there's a lot to like.

IMG_20240923_1833172.jpg.1d7c9dad59e4c86b48d9149b5b4e4d70.jpg

I think the Suzuki Carry and Toyota HiAce appealed to me most out of the six.

I've seen this range previously in some of the bigger branches of Sainsbury's, while out hunting for Matchbox Moving Parts, but this is the first time I've seen any Majos pop up in the TescoTainer aisle.

Back in the pre-Entertainer days, there were some Jada Pink Slips stocked (which I believe were Majorette castings) - though I don't believe I've seen any Majorettes stocked in stand-alone branches of The Entertainer either. Siku, yes - but not Majorette. Hmm.

Ah well. It's not like I need any more models...

Currently at work but will open it up at lunch... nothing exciting though!

I only bought it for one of the cars.

Edit: actually it was for 2 of the cars.

FFS, I’m a bit gutted… this car was particularly dusty and whilst cleaning it with a baby wipe I’ve broken the front bumper. It’s lasted 42 years intact and then numb nuts here, with the best intentions, breaks it 😩

I might invest in a sonic bath 🤔

My Portuguese colleague came though again and located a Mercury Comet Gt for me,something I've been looking out for ever since Gas Monkey built the Vomit Comet..

Nicely detailed own the the tiny little badges everywhere.

Everyone knows the TransAm,Charger and Camaro but these seem to have slipped under the radar..

That’s where the instructions for the original kit say it should go. Basically centred over the rear axle. But, they aren’t necessarily always there,

I think it does need to go back a bit though. The trailer looks a bit close to the cab.

I'll have a look next time I'm passing - there was only one Civic on the shelf (two or three each of the other types), so here's hoping!

there's less overhang on the chassis in the pic which looks better

I’m a bit of a sucker for a Tomica, the fact you can let them escape the box is a bonus too. First up from the regular range this Suzuka race control Civic which unusually for a Tomica actually has wheels that look big enough for the body. Crisply cast and tampo’d its a little cracker 👍

Its a real thing too!

IMG_7852.jpeg.296d4b92cfaef95701724a57ce96e86f.jpeg

The second Tomica is a posh one from the Premium range - original Honda Prelude. Again a lovely casting, crisp and nice tampo lights too. Doors open and fit beautifully too for a modern diecast (still not a patch on a 60’s Lesney obviously).

This shows the worst and best bits…. Worst is the dashboard and steering wheel, bit of a letdown really. Best bit is the wheel trims (that looked like alloys on the real thing) which are just a fantastic moulding.

These aren't dear, both sub a fiver, but the shipping cost normally kills things - however these were squeezed in with some equally unnecessarily purchased Tamiya parts 😂

That would overload the rear axle making the real lorry illegal on that axle, plus give dangerously vague steering. The front should have about 7 tons on it so the 5th wheel position looks spot on to me 👍

Tbh, it could be the trailer itself having the hitch pin quite far back? That’s not necessarily an easy thing to move though.

Painted it today.

IMG_5843.jpeg.553579a5e419861d6134aaefa623ef5b.jpeg

Luckily the British Rail livery is very simple! All black chassis with an all yellow cab body (or red if it belonged to the Freighliner section who dealt with the containers). I’ve got some red double arrow logo’s somewhere ready for this. Some of these trucks seemed to have a black bumper but some had a silver/grey so I’ve done mine in an aluminium silver colour.
Loads of bits on the chassis and cab to paint in next!
I need to find a decent colour photo of a GUY cab interior too so I can paint that.

The reason I didn’t use the GUY’s chassis in the kit was because the trailer wouldn’t work very well with it. It would have taken a good deal of messing with to make it work. The suspension and wheels on it were too low for the trailer too.
It was also 3D printed and seemed very fragile to me. It felt like it’d either break or warp very easily.

The AEC 8x4 is still progressing slowly. I’m making the glazing (which is a task I hate doing!) and can only do one or two windows at a time then have to let the glue dry.

Posted

This is how the kits come.

These are two more I’ve got sat waiting their turn!
Ford Cargo looks good but might need a good amount of tidying up to get rid of all the printing pips etc. Leyland Terrier looks a really nice little thing though and should build up into a good looking truck. The only downside to these (and the GUY) is they don’t have any information with them for making the glazing, so it’s basically totally up to you to do it.
The AEC and Leyland Ergomatic’s are from a different company and have good instructions for it all.
