Decided on taking on the Wildcat Mustang Monster Truck idea as I have clear (not the green!) spare glazing here

Posted

Oo, need a cheap Cararama Capri Mk1. Mild interest in black Mk1 Golf too... And is that a launch edition gold Corgi Sierra?

Hmnng!

How much is La France trailer

That's an excellent question.

I wish I knew the answer.

Anything from £1 to £20... there's more to come from Charity Stall Tales today!

Wildcat mustang with the intact engine and stickers is unusual, especially as it's missing the other bits!

I was surprised how good the shell was!

More to come, on that one...

Rover Transporter is interesting!

Is Anglian Ice Cream original

Rover Transporter was, annoyingly, in several bits - I vaguely fashioned it into shape from various pieces at the bottom of the box.

Walls Ice Cream van is an original, with chimes, though it's quite playworn.

The chimes don't work!

How much Cortina GXL

It's a total gluebomb vaguely held together with elastic bands, and I believe the Vectis auction grading for it would equate to absolutely beyond fucked - but it's a fiver. Pics to come, it needed to be recorded for posterity if nothing else...

Ah, I nearly did nab that one but put it back. But I may well be back over at 12...

Mk1 Golf is by Bburago - lightly played with, but not too bad.

The gold Sierra seems to be a Nescafe promo version!

Probably worth more than my house or something to an eccentric billionaire collector...

For a fiver, would have the silent Ice Cream van.  Might even run to a bit more

If Cortina has intact screen pillars...    but five might still be a bit steep as donor shell idea only

The Superkings Cosworths are worth nabbing if they're cheap. I already have one but they are quite sought after.

If you don't mind waiting until January, you could have these, if interested?

Picked them up for nostalgic reasons a few months ago. Boxes as you can see aren't great but both cars are mint.

I'm sure we could arrange some sort of a swap!

Ooof! Could I bag the Prelude please!? Waiting til January is no bother…

Interested to know the cost of the best white Sierra Cosworth if not too damaged.

Pillars are smashed to bits and there's been some fairly inventive efforts to reconstruct them.

They're a fiver each - good but not mint (spoilers missing etc).

I was tempted, as I had a plain white one from new! Wish the bumpers didn't go yellow on them quite so readily...

£5 on them - in fact, £5 on nearly everything you can see here!

One white Cossie has the rear spoiler missing, the other's substantially intact but has a few paint chips. Both have the dreaded yellowed bumpers...

More detailed pics shortly!

COSSIES! ARRGGH!

(Spirals into a deep, existential quandary as to whether he'll ever find one mint and boxed for less than £££££ and whether, in fact, a substantially okay unboxed example will fill the gap)

If either of the Texaco ones are REALLY nice, there's a fiver (plus p/p) here for it.

What is this?

Another excellent question!

I was hoping you'd know...

A good mix of older stuff and newer stuff, it turns out.

I'll start with the little stuff...

933801362_IMG_20230609_0816332.thumb.jpg.ad9cefea24e3c3df299a125645653679.jpg

Odd blend of older Lesney and Hongwell Cararama newbies.

580566620_IMG_20230609_0809552.thumb.jpg.7815f7368938dbfaeb00459c3e7deeb4.jpg

Some racer stuff, and three Commer meat wagons, all subtly different.

534720239_IMG_20230609_0818442.thumb.jpg.ca9d7c749dfac4e9935031f60870a800.jpg

Some better than others - later version had all the flashy-light gubbins missing.

768248009_IMG_20230609_0809572.thumb.jpg.c7d86906f01ec7185f942bd9aa5d5d27.jpg

Anglebox Walls van had sundry plastic bits broken or missing, but was substantially there.

553315866_IMG_20230609_0821402.thumb.jpg.896f0ec9e1b5864b4e38148305d85ba8.jpg

Mk X Jaaaaag just a bit rough. Dinky Roller not too bad, and French Dinky military crane truck was really very good indeed.

784606621_IMG_20230609_0816052.thumb.jpg.807f1c020b876ea14603c7fa2937b18d.jpg

This plastic Jaguar XK120 had no maker's name and was missing bumpers and a windshield, but appeared old and I'll bet it's some sort of rarity...

1942748199_IMG_20230609_0816112.thumb.jpg.f19bd60dbe37580ffade2e502b8c3071.jpg

Fibreboard base? Looks factory, though.

Unusual.

179567570_IMG_20230609_0810002.thumb.jpg.eb1f8f47ecf230ab9903045995e8d831.jpg

Gluebomb Graham Hill Cortina GXL had been on the receiving end of a less-than-successful restomod effort.

568387062_IMG_20230609_0810062.thumb.jpg.add62632c433fd14663777370288e7e9.jpg

The base had been very badly drilled, and lashings and lashings of UHU had been unsuccessfully deployed in a doomed effort to make it whole again.

1232911344_IMG_20230609_0810262.thumb.jpg.07b6c7f1eda7f241d88913d02f464883.jpg

Ambulance missing its battery innards too, and may have been a repaint.

Some base weirdness going on with the Bond Aston DB5, too.

Lotus Esprit is by Vanguards, but had some paint damage plus someone had apparently tried to tie the wipers together.

1756870085_IMG_20230609_0810232.thumb.jpg.4b75af50a47dadb248e70ba31e3a2720.jpg

Lots of Matchbox Cosworth action. Also Corgi goodness too...

260027242_IMG_20230609_0810122.thumb.jpg.d6777375dc1e335568f8e12802eecb69.jpg

Corgi Sierra Ghia was in reasonable nick, bar a few chips - no idea what 'Nescafé Competition 1984' refers to, though. Customer promo? Sales team incentives? Looks to be a professionally applied sticker.

DS is an Atlas remake of the French Dinky original - didn't know it came with an opening bootlid.

Super Kings Leyland tipper is a late version with the knobbly wheels. Very clean - annoyingly missing its tipper flap, though.

Bburagos were ones I saw in TK Maxx a while ago - nice enough wee things, though these seem to have had some toybox action.

243188168_IMG_20230609_0817022.thumb.jpg.2792077baceaf299a61d79d1b42e51f2.jpg

Racing Imp had no maker's name on it - some sort of partwork?

1515947810_IMG_20230609_0810192.thumb.jpg.7bae73b6d100fc765ca324c58073ec0e.jpg

Lots of construction vehicles today - some Siku, some Joal, some no-name.

Strange four-wheel Ape (?) had no maker either.

351276197_IMG_20230609_0822312.thumb.jpg.8850e52d6e0a6804a74000d9d4f3b2e4.jpg

Basic, but quite nice.

316013817_IMG_20230609_0822362.thumb.jpg.e19a8f215bfcc92ee0886bc6ca649558.jpg

Siku Sprinter was kinda interesting, but seemed uncharacteristically crude despite the moving bits.

1055460558_IMG_20230609_0822002.thumb.jpg.d07da24b2bd4c4eee2d374666f198825.jpg

White Karrier box van was a repaint.

937178686_IMG_20230609_0810142.thumb.jpg.7965256ee7e9c0c2fe7f0f4dba9c7226.jpg

Green Dinky Land Rover an early 70s one with rubber tyres, not the wretched nylon speedwheels.

Lesney transporters were all in good shape, though only one had the Bedford S tractor unit.

975027949_IMG_20230609_0810172.thumb.jpg.daa36f252e8dd1a01538bf03531cb686.jpg

Corgi Man from U.N.C.L.E. Olds wasn't bad, while the Dinky Bentley dhc next to it was alright bar the missing screen.

Giraffe pattern SIII Land Rover is a Cararama 1/43.

Green Jeep cherry picker was very clean indeed.

2106513515_IMG_20230609_0817132.thumb.jpg.753db57c563870cbf876c20dd924a5c7.jpg

Some boxed Atlas Dinkys, and some very broken large scale F1 cars finished off the loose stuff for today.

Most of these seem to have a £5 asking price on them.

There were also some more Showman's vehicles, boxed...

1758409685_IMG_20230609_0823122.thumb.jpg.47fdf4de26ea1eac3b5ac32aaf95c678.jpg

Plus a nice big Joal Volvo coach in Wallace Arnold colours.

And I know I shouldn't, but I'm increasingly drawn to this...

222918918_IMG_20230609_0814312.thumb.jpg.a6df64ac5da9ae7e74f97da325f41241.jpg

We're not done yet; stay tuned!

Just as I stepped back to admire my artful* stall arranging, blokey pulled out another couple of boxes...

1071410404_IMG_20230609_0810352.thumb.jpg.4ea680784854f655843197b82e85d610.jpg

Vanguards, Corgi Classics (and Motoring Memories) and Oxford Diecast... sadly most of them loose and rattling round inside their cases, or missing part of their box (like the ADO16 estate).

Further box excavation revealed a not-too-wrecked XJ12 in white, and more partwork police cars.

872311719_IMG_20230609_0812182.thumb.jpg.3a65385d3807111145ce3e5213a4a0e7.jpg

And a few buses.

1886375843_IMG_20230609_0811492.thumb.jpg.6bb941d967783301f4958b348597642a.jpg

Fiver each - could be worse?

I think we've seen these before - more Corgi Classics (Thorneycroft box vans, sadly) plus a Royal Wedding Super Kings bus and Mobil Corgi Volvo racing truck.

403815066_IMG_20230609_0814102.thumb.jpg.7313e7a9eab151ae5b468703f51e2d4f.jpg

And Bburago tractors, for some reason.

So... there was some stuff worth having.

And some money changed hands.

I could have spent A LOT, believe me... but like most of us right now, I don't exactly have A LOT of cash to splash, dagnammit.

But - with requests above collated, I'll nip back over in half an hour and see what's what...

We're not done yet, though.

Because I went back over to the Charity Stall afterwards...

Yer Man behind the stall was involved in protracted negotiations with a collector chappie over a novelty lighter, so I stood for a while gamely smiling, with the desired diecast in my mitts.

Their dealings concluded, but with collector chappie still nosing, I asked how much the cars in the box were.

He peered over, as if he'd never seen me or the box before.

"Depends."

I held up the FIRE BIRD TRANSAN, as an example.

"Pound."

Oh. Okay. We've gone from three-for-a-pound, to 50p each, to £1 a throw.

Man, they need to start including Tiny Tat into the Bank Of England's Retail Price Index figures, because this stuff's going up like a rocket.

I hopefully held up the Buick Regal, and asked if it was also a pound.

He shook his head.

"No."

Wow, we're really pulling teeth today.

So I asked how much was on it.

Turned out he wanted £3 on that one.

It's alright, but it didn't tickle me that much. And it's pretty worn.

I asked about the Corgi DS. £2 on that one.

So I grouped together what I calculated to be £5 worth of toys and held them out, along with a five pound note.

He just stared across at me.

The two-pound DS, and three one-pound models, I quavered.

"Ah, three quid will do", he said - like he was snapping out of a semi-trance.

At that point, Collector Chappie had wandered off - so was there some sort of weird hardball persona in operation while he was present?

I dunno.

Weird.

So I called over to Colin's stall - and lo, he had that much-discussed 1/43 Oxford Disco 1 in today.

1748617343_IMG_20230609_0824352.thumb.jpg.a265f82e9613e7c1fdfd1913c0399369.jpg

It was really nice - but I didn't have £25 left, irritatingly.

WANT.

Maybe another day!

I took a spin past Alan's Emporium as I made for the exit, coffee in hand - but although the 50p Tray was out, there was nothing on it.

So! This morning's purchases yet to be photographed... but I should probably be putting my skates on if I want to be dashing out the stroke of 12...

Ah, excellent - there was a plain base to it, and though it was fairly detailed up top the headlights were oddly cockamamie.

Still nice, though!
