My apologies, the measurements are in inches and after a bit of research I found it listed as 1/12 scale.

Cheers chap - I will take this. How do you want me to pay for it?

Shame they're so small though.

Yes, I also like Hotwheels but I agree, they are just a wee bit small to be able to see any detail.

Vantman, just checked on eBay and there's an identical BX to yours, same condition too with the same parts missing, going for about £45 on eBay. Just want to let you know before you decide what to do, wouldn't want to rob you here!

Thanks for the info but I am happy to sell it to you for £15. You should have a PM.

Could this be the most overlooked diecast yankshite?

MOAR yankshite.

Not sure why getting Mopar nomenclature straight appears to be such an impossible task, but there is no such thing as a 1961 DeSoto Adventurer.

In its final year, sir could get a DeSoto, period. Yes, a DeSoto. That's it. Nothing more. There weren't any models. There wasn't even an optional engine.

There wasn't a convertible and there was no wagon. There was a Desoto and you could have it as a 2-door or 4-door hardtop.

Anyway, this is a bit from the lower echelons of diecastage.

A face even its mother hated:

002.jpg

An attempt to continue Desoto's traditional triple taillight treatment that can't be beaten in its half arsedness:

003.jpg

Sadly my camera refuses to do the relatively nicely made interior justice:

004.jpg

The seat backs fold in the typical Mopar fashion of the day:

005.jpg

Nothing to write home about, in real life and on the model:

Not really a bad model, but it does need help.

Most annoying is that step that makes the roof sit about 2mm too high.

Filing this down should do a lot to the overall proportion.

I can't see a '61 De Soto without thinking of Bruce McCall.....

Junkman, you do realise that you have single-handedly turned my entire skin Lime Green here?  I'd eat your legs for that DeSoto!

Where did you score the Starfire from?

I'd rather like one to compliment the Studebaker Golden Hawk I have from the same series - same flocked packaging - same "gold" coin.

Best of all, same functional crank windows.

Outrageous fidelity for the cash, even if the grille is a little cheesy

I must have a look through this thread. I haven't clicked on it before, but the models are amazing!

I've just declined the chance to buy this:

s-l500.jpg

I already have a 'playworn' black example that was my favourite growing up. This 'mint' example with a shabby box was starting at £4.99, ( + £2,99 p&p)

I didn't pull the trigger because I wasn't sure if £8 could be justified.

If it's relisted.... should I?

My advice would be No, but then I'm a mingy bugger who objects to the current prices being asked for diecasts.  Other opinions may vary.

Got this in the mail from our own Vantman. The chap is an absolute gent - despite knowing he could have got about £45 or so for the model on eBay he sold it to me for a a tiny fraction of that.

It's a huge 1/12 scale Citroen BX 14 RE made by Vullierme in France. I presume it's a promotional item if some sort and quite sought after I believe. I have placed one of my son's Hot Wheels cars next to it to indicate the scale of it.

I didn't know that you could get models of ordinary Japanese cars of the late 1990s from 1:64 scale manufacturers so I opted for these from eBay.

Toyota Corolla E110 JDM version and a Toyota Camry XV20.

Pretty pleased with them even if the Corrolas paint is mighty tired!

Purchssed earlier today -post-4771-0-91469900-1485706514_thumb.jpg

Polistil R5 and escort. I gave a pound each - they sell for north of £30 mint boxed - I bought some boxed ones for a fiver each some years ago but at current prices I wont be adding to them.post-4771-0-71474800-1485706660_thumb.jpg

Corgi batmobile - for a tenner it was a bargain as the paint is very good. I just need to get hold of Robin and a replacement screen as the bridge piece is missing.

Skills on the Batmobile. I sold a Batman and Robyn crewed one in far worse condition than yours a few years ago on eBay for £32.

In spite of global warming, sustained negative temperatures keep me from working on my real cars. The Dinin V6 conversion awaits completion and the 505 Turbo needs to be collected from Austria. I need to keep myself busy not find myself doing another collection trip or engage into similar unproductive adventures.

This inconspicuous box has been waiting on the shelf for a long winter weekend to come since long.

img_2620_600_600.jpg

Content: A conversion kit to make a finely detailed Dinin racing car out of the rather simple 1:43 Tagora model made by Solido.

img_2560_600_600.jpg

I am good at occasional buying model cars, but the last time i actually built one must be 40+ years ago.

Easy start, the donor vehicle is quickly disassembled.

img_2557_600_600.jpg

There it goes to my professional paint chamber.

img_2562_600_600.jpg

So far, so good. Well, not quite, painting it with the doors open was not a good idea, the doors now no longer close properly.

img_2591_600b_600.jpg

A good dose of solvent and a second visit to the paint shop lead to a satisfactory result.

img_2593_600_600.jpg

Next step: Apply the foils. Nothing new, same as in 1:1 only a little smaller, i have ample practice!
Quickly a Déjà-vu feeling comes up. The foil does not really want to stay on the roof, the edges do not stick around the corners and it tears apart.

img_2594_600_600.jpg

Level one frustration! Will this become a job for weeks to come as with the real Dinin?

The Internet has advice, some clear lacquer helps with the corners and edges and the project goes ahead.

img_2602_600_600.jpg

img_2609_600_600.jpg

The end result is not bad, but I'm not really satisfied.

img_2610_600_600.jpg

Good that i have another kit, a second attempt shall follow and hopefully end up in a better result.
