@Datsuncog  Dinky Singer Vogue shell please

I have a complete one (they go for ££) but the thought of making a convertible out of that is too much to miss

Are they valuable? I have a VGC one with its box.

Majorette did loads of 1/24 scale for their domestic market, I had a few at one point, E-type, Cobra, Cherokee. None as far as I know were ever retailed in the U.K., the quality was a bit indifferent as well.

I thought they were Bburago rebrands

But appears not

They seem to have the edge in value over some others, yes. Not sure why they are scarce as they were on catalogue for five years

I ended up spending almost a tenner on a humbrolled one, just to stop the chase twitch!

All playworns seemed to go for £20+

Yes and no... I think the problem was that Playmobil's toys and trademarked name were also pirated by a Hungarian toy firm called Schenk, with no connection to the real Playmobil (owned by German toymaker Brandstätter). I'm not sure, but were Hobby Cars maybe linked to Schenk?

Can't find it on these pages, but I think I profiled a plastic copy of the Matchbox Superfast Bedford TM car transporter which was made by Schenk and sold with Playmobil branding, in an impressively bold disregard of both sets of intellectual property rights. The model shop in Smithfield had a fair few of these, and apparently there were other MB copies in the same range.

Schenck were sued by Brandstätter, and ordered by a court to stop selling toys under the Playmobil name in the mid-90s.

Naughty, naughty.

The Airport Coach is ex-Majorette casting.

7290385610_cb5a5ab91f_b.jpg

Think we have seen the Leyland Terrier Corgi Junior copies before.  They are different castings though, confirmed by the 'grille' on the SZE that is part of the plastic base

Had a right aversion to these as a child.  It was the piddly tinny lightweight sound they made, the box body seemed to accentuate the racket.  A shame the bases weren't metal, or the front end detail was picked out.  And those stupidly large Whizzwheels.  And they were EVERYWHERE and still are.  The Corgi Juniors 'Days Gone' van

Leyland-Terrier-Everready.jpg.f6b895c861331ffd346b57fb26ac45b6.jpg

Even in real life they seemed to annoy me.  Don't know why, perhaps the overhang and chin.  More likely the memory of the Corgi Juniors model!

I suppose to get it out of my system, I should restore one, fit more sensible pre-Whizzwheels, fit sound insulation, do a proper detail on it.  Or just ignore it and hope it goes away.

I love these as they were all built in Bathgate which was just a few miles from me. The lightweight Terrier and lower weight Boxers all had the old BMC 6/98 engine. I think it made a great sound. The Terrier did have comically small wheels and I always felt the model looked closer to a heavier Clydesdale 4 wheeler.

Australian Terrier production included 4.4 petrol V8 and Allison autobox option.  Lowered the compression improving torque over the engine fitted in P76 cars.  Governed to around 3500rpm.  400 built.

@eddyramrod:  The Spot-on Humber estate's roof rack is in the post to you.  With it being a Royal Weekend,  expect it on Tuesday or Wednesday. It's in a jiffy envelope with additional packing as it is quite delicate but should fit through your letterbox.

The 1999 Weetabix promotion resurrected the Terrier, colouring the grille and fitting a better* choice of wheels.  So, it survived the Mattel ownership era, despite them not transitioning it into a Hot Wheels.

But wait....

It's not the same casting - what's that on the roof of the Chinese-manufactured resurrection?  That wasn't there in the 70s and 80s castings.  Or was it?

Both eras of Corgi Leyland Terrier Weetabix promos were in evidence - the '70s original, and the late '90s version with no commonality.

Alright, well that was disappointing...

The morning meeting massively overran, only finishing at 1.45pm.

I dashed over to the market, but... everything was packed away, and both Market Blokey and Charity Blokey were already gone for the day.

Moreover, I learned earlier that Market Blokey's going to be off on holiday for the next three weeks - so he won't be back with his stall until June.

Ah.

What do we say?

As Noel says, Corgi are going to be doing the other colours that models came in. These modern repros are only worth buying as sentimental reminders of lost toys, there is no investment potential in them. Just like the old Atlas Dinkys from a few years ago, I suspect that these Corgis will be available for a fraction of the cost in about 5 years time.

I was considering the Mini Magnifiques, but I'll wait.

It must be annoying if you have paid the £35.99 for an E-Type from CMC...

335 - 4.2 Litre Jaguar 'E' Type 2+2 – Corgi Model Club

only to find that the blue one is £19.99 from Corgi.

The gold Mustang looks nice. I don't need another expensive but it's interesting to know anyway

I got a delivery from @Mine's a Leganza!

Excellent service, the Mini was one of the ones Tesco deprived us of and I liked the idea of the red MGB in a box - think it was only a multi pack colour over here?

Mini van didn't make it to these shores at all as far as I know

Strangely it's in nice condition, other than the wheels which are a bit chewed up.

This also arrived. I have quite a few of these and there seems to be an endless variety of shades of purple from grape to pink. It's very tidy and will be replacing a not as good one

Oh they are tiny things, 11.5 cm slimmer and 6.6cm shorter in height than a BMC Mini

If you tell me the width and length, I'll compare it to the Zylmex Honda 600 here which looks too big for 1:64
