No I hadn't looked it up.  I knew about Sun Rally.

It's only recently I've had proper Mini interests and bought a few up - it's all this threads fault!

Are they all Wicker ones then?

Does that mean this was a Wicker?

If so, Alan is pleased

That one you got off my sale thread has no trace left of the wicker. Either someone carefully removed it or it’s just that worn, although the black paint isn’t too badly worn at all.
That sort of decal/tampo printing stuff I’ve got off before on other things with white spirit then rub it with a cotton bud, or you can use (carefully!) T-cut and a cotton bud. Occasionally one needs a gentle scrape with a fresh scalpel blade.
Personally I prefer them without the wicker!

Ok I looked up Catalogues.  First appeared catalogue 1967

https_lh3.googleusercontent.com-SvzmCseUiNcU4DhfeFbkjIAAAAAAACTIwfESv0AeHSekYkKxTop3T7VjlP7d15ZJhQCLkCGAss0Corgi2B1967-682BCatalogue2BPage2B11.thumb.jpg.a2e0fb002eb65160b165f6563bde05e3.jpg

Appeared again still carrying the decal in 1969

https_lh3.googleusercontent.comTa3-4Y5WSBQIqSlgqqIzOdKXVZOl98mDY2f2IiHhey5OVG2SbLfoLvcDvTuYMOj5l2Bnb-4Cowba3KQchtWKFdjW-DlCUaKmbrrL0hdPIJa5l-pBa2Gv4qWYtb7.thumb.jpg.af43ddebd4a145d2875ad0c56b063eca.jpg

Not in 1970 catalogue.

Didn't see any without the decal in any catalogue.  So can I assume I have answered my own question?  A black one with a red roof was never sold naked.

That is great news as been wanting to recreate one, but now I might not have to worry about painting a donor one up to suit.  Just needing to touch up with a brush and polish the life out of an original, will be a relief.  Decals are cheap : 249 Mini wickerwork panels £2.30.  World improves.

But... then will need to worry about a Mostest VAN.  Bet that's never been done.

The photo was from a Hatton auction page.  That actual Pop Art 'Mostest' Mini sold for £3k.

Currently in Tesco, having a crack at 'the big shop' post-payday.

Despite a fresh case having been cracked open, these seem to have been well rifled through for Sierras/ RS2000s and so forth.

Found these though:

Of any interest to anyone? I'll be in the store for the next half-hour, most likely...

Probably best if I don't buy yet more up speculatively!

Sainsbury's not exactly well-stocked when I called past earlier on...

Yes, Toymart auction lists said same.  But Catalogue (UK anyhow) doesn't show until 1967.  Either way, Alan is pleased

Thanks. So never properly released! No wonder so valuable. Even more reason to make counterfeit 'clones' for a laugh, to upset old men in attics in Connecticut. It just might work!

Will keep an eye out for one - I'd been and gone before your response came through!

Other highlights included the third colourway of the Thunderbird pro-streeter, which looks pretty smart in black over gold - even if it's not the same as the paint job on the real thing:

1112082893_IMG_20230427_2056162.thumb.jpg.5d898e4f492f57aca065903ef5a764ba.jpg

The recoloured Wagoneer was also present - I bought the paler gloss grey version last year, and I think this has a lighter coloured grille and base too?

205751025_IMG_20230427_2056262.thumb.jpg.54fdc9e30b80d4ef56a6dbb57a459f62.jpg

Must dig it out for a look - hard to capture in photos, but it looks quite different in the metal.

697235341_IMG_20230427_2056382.thumb.jpg.14f8e292217b217db0bd6f678054b9b8.jpg

Bloody Honda cafe Racers everywhere now. Easier to find than other motorbikes in the range, it would seem.

Matchbox selection was a bit rubbish - three Mustang Mach Es, three bike trailers (two of them from last year) and a Koenigseggggggg was the sum total.

Mind you, I've likely had my fill of Matchbox just lately...

So I understand the Matchbox Motorway Range ended up really difficult to shift, so many ended up being in toy shops long long after production had ended. Presumably because of the price.

Hey Tim I'd be interested in the Kelvin scottish Route master and the old blue Phase 1 Standard vanguard please!

Okay, so... early run in somewhat complicated by a failed set of signals at the busiest junction in Ireland (no lie), causing massive tailbacks along the M2...

But upon frantic arrival, Market Blokey was only just setting up.

First up were a whole heap of toy buses - I clocked the Superkings first...

417455129_IMG_20230428_0736502.thumb.jpg.ea645dbf06353df23549a70436d96386.jpg

Tenner on these.

Then the little ones appeared from another box.

716191403_IMG_20230428_0734542.thumb.jpg.8b53593a351458d27176314ab6541fc7.jpg

Plenty of 1970s and 80s Lesney - plus Corgi, and other far-eastern oddities.

Some seem to be Code 2s, which isn't surprising.

The Leyland Royal Tiger box had a surprise inside, however;

Ah. A greyhound, not a tiger.

All at a fiver, the small boxed and blister packed stuff.

667990380_IMG_20230428_0735042.thumb.jpg.2b67d6bcceab9b0fc565c73125be0127.jpg

'Mandarin Superwheels' - made in Singapore.

Tins Toys - made in Hong Kong.

Corgi Juniors were also nice, and not bad at a fiver - though, like the Matchbox, not all were still sealed.
