In other news, I've been doing a resto on several models & actually finished this Corgi Mini Countryman...

Repainte in Humbrol red and rear door made from venetian blind...

As I'm currently doing budget restos I had a limited choice of colours and chose yellow

I didn't buy a new window unit and made the rear side windows from some clear plastic packaging

The woodwork is mixed from Humbrol Nut Brown and Yellow and tbh not my finest hour, my hand is still steady, but my eyes are not great close up any more..Also the Steve Flowers repro doors don't fit very well...

Here with Mrs Concern's Summer House Surfer...

I did fill in the roof rack and aerial holes

THe original doors actually do fit properly

Joined by some other Corgi friends

I cut the axles 5mm and used spacers (some sanded down beads, but it needs to be a bit narrower in the track so it will fit my Transporters. It isn't finished yet as I need to make some bumpers and a grill, pretty much all the chrome plated plastics had fallen apart even though the body was in good condition with the green paint mainly ok I stripped it anyway

Repaint job looks great to me. Shame the repro doors don’t fit too well though. Maybe making your own out of plastic card might be a better bet?

Other ebayers do the doors, but not sure if they are still by Steve Flowers. I don't think I'll be doing any more and CBA doing this one again and thanks for your feedback! @danthecapriman

Looks great.  And why not, Carlos would be proud!

Because Carlos never travelled by Car Transporter.  You see, he was a privateer and DROVE to his race meetings.  His shortcoming was he chose to go through farmland and not keep to the main roads.

An appealing idea, but... the Van and Traveller bodies have the tail canted forward a little; the doors are not upright.  The tail of the Pickup is vertical.  There's a bit more engineering required than a first glance would suggest.

Remember this sorry looking Matchbox VW Dormobile, a twin pack release from the fantastic year of 1977?

I stripped it and considered doing a resto - but then decided mild custom would suit it much better, especially after finding a set of wheels that matched the blue windows nicely

You can tell the casting isn't as good as the previous two I've mucked about with, it's clearanced inside the arches for the big Superfast wheels though, which made life a bit easier.

Still not sure why they put that big single exhaust on it though

Cold and frosty morning, despite the sun.

Precious minutes were wasted guddling in the garage for another can of de-icer... minutes which could have been more profitably spent at the other end.

A quick boot up the motorway and some audacious parking etiquette saw me skidding through the doors just before 7.30 - at which stage the Tat Stall was still mostly empty, but already The Nemesis was there and browsing through some fresh tat boxes...

Daaah. I knew it would go this way.

Although really, it was more the principal of the thing, as it wasn't like I was being beaten to very much...

Other than some well-used Lesney Superfasts and a few BP-promo era Corgis, there wasn't a massive amount more to tickle my fancy.

The Corgi Cubs Fire Chief car always intrigued me as a kid, as I could never work out what it was meant to be based on.

Viva HC estate? Reliant Scimitar? Ah well.

The big 1/18 Corgi McLaren M23b was impressive, though sadly lacking one rear wheel and with an imposter driver.

Decent overall condition, though.

This one was snaffled by The Nemesis (though he was very nice about it and did insist on giving me first refusal).

There were also these 1/25 and 1/26 scale Polistil racers...

Missing a few spoilers here and there, and with varying levels of paint damage - but not all that common maybe?

Early and later bases show the change from all-metal to mostly plastic.

Probably a fiver each on these.

Otherwise, it was mostly more of the ten-pound Vanguards/ Oxford/ Atlas 1/43 stuff, and to be honest I'm finding it hard to keep track of what we've seen before...

I think we've encountered these on previous weeks.

Most of them are still rattling round loose, irritatingly. This Sheerline would have been good, but paint damage to the rear quarters makes it only much good for repainting.

The only bus in this week's pile was this Blackpool Leyland:

As I was snapping away and tidying up, I became aware of a few more boxes appearing on the stall...

Yes, the taxi was pretty wrecked.

These primer-finished Dinkys were unusual...

Front tractor unit is a French Dinky Panhard; with a UK Guy behind.

In the same box were these Kingfisher white metal trailers/ box van bodies:

This pair were also unusual:

Dinky Minx had a rather skewed roofline following a mishap, while the unbranded Citroen DS was appealing in its simplicity.

Missing rear wheels an annoyance, though less noticeable than on other cars maybe?

All it said underneath was 'Citroen DS - Made In England'.

I thought I'd taken a pic of the underside, but apparently in all the excitement I forgot.

It reminded me of Lone Star/ Crescent/ DCMT, somehow - but I really couldn't place it.

Lastly, some of the dregs from previous weeks reappeared:

Good to see my handiwork's* still holding the exploded Marlin together.

Not much noteworthy here... still can't work out what horrible fate's befallen this Dinky Dodge.

Some paint bubbling suggests it may have been on fire, at some stage?

Weird.

So, I left my (almost) Trainer-Twinsie Nemesis to finish up his purchases...

(he took the Dinky Minx too, along with a Budgie tanker trailer from the same Tat Box as the F1 cars, plus a couple of the £10 Vanguards too)

...and headed off round the rest of the market.

Red Dinky 914 with added decals is a repaint, unfortunately, though complete - the blue one is kinda scruffy with a busted A-pillar and missing glazing - at £5 each.

£1 on the General Lee, though!

One of the 'proper antiques' stalls had these 1/18 Hot Wheels Ferraris, but at £25 each with no boxes and busted mirrors, I'm not sure if they represented terrific value...

Alan was seemingly away sunning himself in Mauritius on the proceeds of his 50p Tray, as his stall was absent altogether today.

The Charity Stall had no diecast today, after last week's exciting bonanza...

But there were still bargains to be had.

Well, sort of.

The General Tat stall had reloaded on new Vanguards:

Yeah, I'd thought that was a repaint too - given the blobs of black Humbrol - but it does appear to be an original red version, albeit missing its glazing and an engine... can nab it for you, if you fancy it!

Yes although some Speedwheels era were rivetted and continued to be until the end.  Looking at photos online, can't find a 914 with rivets though.

That interior is more brown than the bright red on the Speedwheels metallic blue ones with black bonnet

The yellow previously cast wheels original releases came with black interiors

Looking at the chipping, it looks to have been taken back to bare metal if it is a repaint.  Oh the excitement
