Shite in Miniature II

I can remember having one of those as a kid, mine had a clip on roof rack, friction drive, and steerable front axle

I also turned the tyres around to get rid of those ghastly whitewalls.

Your bent antenna looks period correct, too.

I attempted to make a 1/18 coathanger from a paperclip. A few more attempts and it should be successful.

However, I don't consider an aerial period correct on a 1948 Wagon to begin with.

Usually I use a length of syringe tube with an inserted clothes pin to replicate the old style antennae.

However, my plan with this particular model is to make it into a mild custom with shaved hood, frenched headlights,

Appleton spots, no aerial, slightly dropped up front and big and little goode olde Polyglase GTse on Cragars.

And yes, there will be surfboards for maximum stereotypility.

Yes, I've recently acquired the same thing!  Isn't it lovely!

Nice 'Carkeys & Clutch' Tomato. Funny how in real life, the POS driven by Hutch was faster than the big red barge

A recent project,

Take one battered Corgi Mk2 Transit pick up,

Ertl.  I've been chasing these on ebay for ages but they keep going over budget.  This one was marginal, but thankfully it stayed within.

Of course MrsR isn't talking to me now....

I think we got them at the right time. These are going to skyrocket, seeing that the GL is "Artisan", which means shit.

Thankfully I don't have those SWMBO issues, so I got me a pair of nice sexy Ponchos.

That Bonneville is outrageous. I heart the dogtag and reproduction brochure.

You'll be finding details on that for decades.

I will burn in hell forever for the level of jealousy I'm experiencing over those!

That Bonneville is (probably) worth the asking price just for the boot liner and spare wheel cover.    Fifties Yank stuff works so well in this scale....

Saw one of these in an assorted box of model/toy cars at the local auction house tonight:

I remember them from the catalogue back in the day, but didn't realise they were 1:24/25 scale. Already regretting not leaving a bid - had there been much else of interest in the box I probably would have done. I'm still sore at not bidding on a box of American promo's which sold for just £22 a few weeks ago.

Dinky Capris were sold in 1/43 size too but the bigger ones came out in the last three or four years of UK Dinky production and hence represented the facelifted 3000GXL - also in slightly unlikely Rally and Police liveries.   The larger scale Dinky (it was only the Capri) was apparently not a success and the idea never developed further.

The man at the back said everyone attack and it turned into a Bedford Blitz :P Eaglemoss Bedford CF mk1

Oh bloody hell, how nice is that?

More to the point, how much are they and from where?

Ebay France, around £20 shipped, getting very hard to find is this CF, Ixo have released it in blue and white, and that is around £40!

I think we may yet see some more of that CF hereabouts....

HFM????

That's a country mile over budget for 1/43, or will we get really lucky and get it in 1/18 for that?  Hm, didn't think so, never mind.  I can dream.

Posted

Oof, a 1/18 CF would be such a thing as dreams are made of. And not just a poxy sealed resin one.

I wish Oxford would do a CF ice cream van. Minichamps are nearing the £50 mark now RRP for 1/43, it's getting daft, and resin 1/43's like Matrix are stupidly expensive at around £70

A Carararararamananammadingdong 1/43 Morstin Oxbridge that I've had a number of years now, and sadly don't think I will have much longer, as sodding zinc pest is setting in on the roof, bonnet, and one side. The metal has started to corrode, and a metallic finish is coming through the paint where the alloy is breaking down. ASSHATS!!!
