"Killer Elite" = Chock full of Chod !

Had the fortune to see " Killer Elite " last night (on channel 600 ) starring Jason Statham, Clive Owen,Rubber Deniro, and others..

but the REAL stars of the Mooovie are a light blue Hillman Hunter, assorted Fred Transits, Mk 3 Cortina in chase scene,

(driven by Clive),Escort Mexico, blue Renault 8 Gordini, Pete-M driving one of his old Jags, Granada fastback, real Mini's, Triumph 2000, etc etc , Citroen Goddesses - yes, plural!

and , I believe, a Citroen Maserati...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1448755/

PeykanHunter will go nuts when he sees it - the Hillman is superb (albeit with odd alloy wheels) , but what stands out the most is

the peculiar mix of correct number plates, and the VERY odd home-made plates with 3 numbers followed by 4 letters !!

that aside, well worth seeing, not sure if it's been released in uk yet. perhaps one of you more enterprising chaps can post up

some screen shots ( cue Trigger...... ? )

There are tons more period motors included, every new scene is like an Autoshite Car Show ! N.Joy, Lovejoy :D

Ha! Take a look at the T-reg 1983 Volvo 240 estate!

Thanks for that Tayne ! i didn't even know Imdb offered such a superb breakdown ; I even forgot to mention the VW Jetta as well.....

- has it been shown in UK yet ? I see it's available on DVD there.... cheers. :D

I quite fancy reading the book now.

See what the differences are.

On a similar note, I've just watched Cars 2. The bad guys in that are all shite (Gremlni, Pacer, Yugo etc) which is absolutely brilliant.

What's not so great is the decision to make Mater the main character, dull story and tiresome environmental message, which means it's nowhere near as good as the first one

I watched Killer Elite last week. Seems to me a lot of it may not have been filmed in the UK, a lot of the specifications of the cars are South African or New Zealand, there are some UK bits by the look of it but it's very eclectic! The T-reg Volvo may have been genuine - SA number plates used to be like this.

A quick thread resurrection - I watched this at the weekend and checked the locations of filming due to these reports of weird specs/plates.

It stated it was filmed in Australia, Wales and Morocco. So most of the British motors will be Aussie spec, I didn't see any town/cityscapes that looked like anywhere in Wales, so all the urban shots set in the UK must have been done in Australia.

Given it was meant to be in set in Britain for a good two thirds of the running time, it's weird how they managed to have a major FAIL on doing UK registration plates properly. Maybe the DVLA warned them off or something.

Or it was made by Americans or Aussies, who simply failed to spot their own mistakes.

may have been filmed in Poland (so i hear) as well as other locations

hospital car chase was epic

The Feather Men is a cracking read, but a better film

Ranulph's The Sett deserves a film too

Hello Peykan hunter  I wondered when you'd surface on this thread !!

Having lived in South Africa for some time, there is no way those odd licence plates are from there, all Cape Province numbers

began CA, or CAP, or variations like that to suit the town other than Cape Town (CB = Port Elizabeth, car manufacturing capital)

Transvaal started with "T", i.e. TJ = Johannesburg, so TA, TB, TAC and similar variations. Natal Province also likewise,

ND = Durban, and so on.

I think looking at them, they were definitely home-made, as they are not even done neatly either, someone goofed bigtime on that point!

It is Paykan with A not E!... Overall I thought it was not a well crafted movie, it is a shame under a hand of a better director could have been a "Killer Movie"! So I'm not surprised that they goofed on the license plates!...

watched this film last night, truely chodtastic.

I also noticed the weird numberplates. Also wasnt it a bit early for a mk 2 Jetta? didnt they come out about late 83 or 84?

Talking of dodgy numberplates on 'british' cars. Has anyone seen 'The Tournament' (starring Robert Carlisle and Ving Rhames)?

Same goes for the "Sons of Anarchy" episodes that are set in Northern Ireland...

Perhaps one of us could set up as consultants to the film industry
