New car for mk1_4dr. What the down-low on this...

The Prelude is dead.

When the timing belt snapped, I stuck it at the bottom of the yard and tried to decide what to do with it. Well, the time had come to stick a belt on it to see if it'll run,. and low-and-behold the clutch sunk straight to the floor. Hydraulics are borked somewhere, and to be honest I've lost heart with the thing.

So, a new car for a new year.

I've seen this, I like it, I can afford to insure it, but, will it go wrong?

There's not much i can add apart from I've driven 940's in the past and they are like driving boats, I know this has a pretty beefy engine but it's a big car to live with and it's heavy, the fuel will be in the low to mid 10's I'd imagine.

Still it's a lot of luxury for the money if it's what you like.

Yeah It did occur to me that the fuel consumption would be pretty dismal. But then escRot liked to sup'.

I've just always had a fancy for these big dinosaurs, and it does seem cheap. It'd weigh in for half of that....

it's only £475 and it has had 6 offers

for that amount of car with the rent and ticket already there i would quite happily give him his asking price and drive it away... if i wasn't at the other end of the country :(

My thoughts exactly. There's always some scrounging twat who thinks he can get something for nothing. Grrrr.

For £475 thats a great buy in my book.

Balls. The 960 sold.

However, this is quite nice, abit salty, but nice.

You go from one extreme to another!, I like Golf GTi's I think they are great fun to drive and pretty egar with it, That one does sound like it's been mess about with a bit but it's not expensive, looking at the 3 wheeled Merc in the back ground it doesn't look the nicest of areas!

I think its because Im not fussy. I want a cheapish car, with TnT and I like the idea of driving something different from what Ive already had.

I've had a hankering for a barge for awhile, and Ive fancied a GTi since the 1600 Ryder that was my first car.

The first one you linked to needed avoiding like a cannibal prostitute with a special offer on blow jobs. Piss poor advert and the opening gambit 'worth £200 as scrap' tells it's own story.

I see what you mean about that first ad, he does seem desperate to sell. Still looked like a nice old thing though.

So does this though. No tax is a bit of an arseache mind....

Dave, there's some shameless self-pimpage coming your way right now!!!!

You want something different?

Something with a bit of "go"?

Something with a decent bit of spec?

Modern enough to be reliable, but old enough to be different?

Then walk this way!!!!!!

Taxed to end of March, MOT'd till September, timing belt, variator, water pump, tensioner and aux belt about 18 months ago (£590 bill in with history) black Momo leather, electric windows, mirrors, sunroof remote locking, 30+MPG and 150bhp.

All yours for £700. More pics available.

I have to say I hadn't even looked at Alfas, they scare me a little bit.

Do you have any interior pictures? Just to satisfy my curiosity mind...

Just for you, Dave!

Don't be scared, BTW, if they've been looked after, they're usually pretty bloody good. The deal breaker when I bought this was the timing belt replacement, and the fact that it seemed from the history, to have been well looked after. It's been spot-on for me, but I've finally got the 147 sorted, and I'm properly skint, so something* needs to go.

*Most things, actually.

That does look well boss inside. I'll have to check with FJ in the morning, see how the insurance stacks up.

In other news, what are these V8 730's like on the dinojuice?

Christ on a bike, Dave! You say Alfas scare you, and you're looking at that! Lovely thing, yes, but that sort of stuff puts the fear of God in me!!

*Not as good as the 2.5 E46 BMWs. He said hintingly.

Well, yeah, but I was looking at 166 V6's which are a little scary, you have to admit.

Its just the idea of the fuel consumption that gives me a headache.

No denying it, your Alfa is f*****g lush,

Dave, I've been in Chris's motor mate and honestly it's fabulous.

Posted

Oh, yeah, like I said it looks awesome inside does the Alfa, I just think I'm fancying something bigger...

166 V6s and V8 Bimmers. Dave, you have balls of steel.

Or, more likely, I'm an idiot.

Volvo Limo all the way!

I'd love it, although I'd like to be chauffeured around in it like the Mayor of some obscure Swedish town in Wallander or something.

Posted

Y'don't, perchance, fancy another coupé? I've always fancied the 406 coupé as a bit of a honey...

This one's not far...

BUY THE FUCKING ALFA DAVE OR I'LL STAMP ON YOUR CAT.

There's a Peugeot 604 STi coming up for sale shortly.....

How about this? Only done 3,800 km from new. It's in Poland, but it's at 5101 zloty (£990) at the mo, which ain't extortionate.

It's a more-door, so there'll never be huge demand, but look at the the thing. then book a flight.
