A very busy day

I had to be at scarys yard at 8am  this morning to meet a man coming to buy a carb "i will definatley be there before 8:15am" turned into "i ll definately be there before 9am, im stuck at the tyne tunnel" and then when i rang him at 10am his phone was turned off  I left a message and as yet (9pm) he hasnt bothered to ring me.

spent the morning replacing trim on the Granada and clearing out the meganed Cortina, found a new Avon tyre on the spare in the boot, some spanners, 3 quid in change and my Doors CD i thought i lost. :D

soon to be my new avatar:

The Cortina was going to a banger racer as he offered more than weigh-in money, and the shell wasnt that good and certainly not worth buying new panels for.

on the way down i was telling the bloke delivering the Cortina about the beemer i was supposed to be buying, but hadnt come up with the money, so far. He wanted to look at it, so i rang the owner. The owner thought i was taking it today, i explained i didnt have all the money, thats okay says he, bring me the rest next week :D

I thought about jump starting it, and after 10 minutes of looking for the battery found it under the back seat (the owner thought it was in the boot, i expected it to be under the bonnet) but it wouldnt fire

so we dragged it out of its parking space and winched it on the truck

almost 60 miles later and its now in scarys yard - scary if your reading this, i will move it in the morning

How is that less cars? Down 2 cortinas, up 1 granada and a 5 series bim...Not that I'm worried or anything, but you said "less" not "same, but bigger"

I had a busy day too - this fire doesn't fill itself!

more cylinders, less petrol, as neither of them run

Strictly speaking, neither did the cortinas....

Quality random boot detritus there. Was the previous owner boning up on criminal litigation in order to defend himself against a charge of hurling rocks with a pink dog-ball-thrower thing?

Posted

no, hes in the legal profession, i found a folder of witness statements from 2007 on the back seat

Nice Beemer, A5 - I always liked the shape of the E34. However...

...is that the shell of a Fiat X1/9 on SOC's truck there...?

If there's a clock in that Amazon, Wat will want to know about it, you might ask for him...

So much for the banger community helping to keep the remaining classics on the road then..... :?

Where's the yard, I fancy Hi-abing the BMW 2002 away, save him having folks knocking on his door asking if it's scrap?

Where is the lad from who owns the white Tranist recovery truck? Looks very much like my old one, or at least the body does. I think it went to someone in Leeds or that area.

Great stuff Autofive! Nice to see it up and running again. I'd love to try a E34 525i auto.

durham, dont know where he got the transit from but he said it had been laid up for 7 years when he got it about 9 months ago. Its on an L reg. plate

any mk10 spares going cheap?

yes, everything is 50p

just checking the myth that banger racers are saviours that give away parts to help others in a blood donor style

E34 best looking 5 series imho,

Great engines...skinned knuckles though!

Parts seem to be plentiful on ebay. You might be able to get a leather interior

If you get really stuck for parts bmw park lane in london have an excellent classic spares department. They are also very helpful and happy to advise
