Should I reintroduce myself?

I'm back, sorry for my absence.

Last time I was here I had this...

I got bored/ had to go sensible so swapped it.

For this...

Hated every second of owning it (due to stupid suspension), and swapped it for this....

And that's where I'm at now.

Micra is the 'Suntop' model, so perfect for the winter!

Regards, Alan

Howdy chap. Nice to have you back. Micra looks like total win! Presume that must have been Torsten's as he's now got the Mitsubishi thing hasn't he?

Hi Panda. Welcome back. & welcome to the Nissan club. :D

I vaguely recall the Micra Suntop. :) Those K10 Micras must be nice to work on, being a 'no frills' car.

Yup, it was, I enjoyed another visit to the dungeon and picked out my next few cars!

One of the biggest things that has driven me back here is the fact that the new owner of my Lada has done this....

and everyone on RR thinks it is brilliant, in spite of the fact it is near undriveable!

I had it handling perfectly (see track day pic in OP) and it is now ruined. :(

I think I'm getting old as I don't see the point in ridiculously low cars anymore.

Hello again :)

I was reading about your Micra on RR the other night. I haven't seen a Suntop version of the K10 for a long, long time and am glad that you have kept it more or less standard so far

Welcome back indeed! Not just a tidy K10 Micra, but one with 1988-vintage Maestro wheel trims as well, I believe. Top marks.

Great shame about your old Lada. You won't get any argument here about stupid lowering; how do those front wheels even steer? It must either shred the sidewalls or it's got a turning circle of 300 yards

Hello again Alan.

You must be the only person who swapped a Mitsui Legnum (sp) for a K10 Micra with a full length sunroof :D .

Ladas have a crap turning circle anyway!

To be honest, the new owner is very skilled and has done a lot of work to make it low and still work, but I just don't get it.

PS. Yes, they are Maestro wheel trims, and I only have 3! Anyone have a spare???

Welcome back!

Speaking of wheels, what is your ex-Lada now wearing in that picture? Look like Triumph 2000 wheels!

Micra looked tidy at the 8ball the other night, any pics from the shoot that was going on in the far corner?

^ Ah, the 8 ball meet, glad to see it's still happening. I only went once, I'll have to go again soon. Welcome back PM!

Welcome back Panda, I now have that Legnum -that will shortly be raised back up a fair bit.

Whilst I dont have an issue with ''lowered'', this one is so low it needs 2 lanes at 70mph (ask me how I know!). Aside from the lowering -its a nice enough car. Should make an economical tow-wagon.

Aha, I take it our friend is chuffed with the Peugeot then Nigel?

Welcome back Mr Panda!

You'll need to replace/rebuild that rear shock though - it is a bit bouncy and dives all over the place!

I reckon it'd be easier to just throw on standard parts (There's a few Galants on ebay breaking) and sell on the coilovers.

I'd have done that if I'd had time/money.

I havent been under it yet, but the fronts just about manageable- the rears dangerous.

I dont know how he lowered it yet -I suspect coilovers on the front -in which case I'll wind back, no idea whats under the back yet, but it clearly hops about like Tigger on acid.

More sensible tyres will help, very low profile stretched to the nuts might look the biz (?) but there's knack all deflection available. It'll be fun -at least the bolts wont be rusted up!!

It has Imprezza coilovers on the front and Mk1 Golf coilovers on the rear. The lower mount at the back is elliptical to compensate for the added camber.

One shock absorber has definitely blown a valve, and I suspect this was caused by the lack of internal bump-stops within the rear coilovers.

I also suspect that the coilover springs have been 'shortened', as when I wound up the back it got to almost the top of its travel without lifting the car much.

The front is already raised 40mm from when I first got it.

I still have an indicator stalk for a Galant and a steering wheel boss to fit it too if you need either.

Ta. Dont think I can go standard rear -it'll look jacked up. If the shocks are knackered- & its so tight I cant tell, it'll need a sympathetic uplift. Do you recall if there much left on the front to come up ?

I want to tow with it -so scraping its arse isnt acceptable. Modified I can live with -on the ground is a joke.

Oh, dont have the towhitch do you? Dez claims he hasnt got it & its not in the boot.

Afraid not, it wasn't in the car when I got it.
